Kentucky Sending Assistance to North Carolina in Support of Hurricane Florence Operations

Gov. Bevin

Gov. Matt Bevin will join Kentucky Emergency Management (KYEM) officials today, as two Swiftwater Search and Rescue (SAR) Teams—comprised from the Louisville Division of Fire and Jefferson County Water Rescue Team—are deployed to North Carolina ahead of Hurricane Florence’s arrival. KYEM is working diligently to assist coastal states with resource requests in anticipation of this major impending storm.

On Tuesday, KYEM officials received a request from North Carolina asking for SAR Swiftwater assistance to support existing emergency personnel. The requests are coordinated and authorized through the Emergency Management Assistance Compact (EMAC).*
