Luther G. Cruse
Luther G. Cruse, 85, of Pioneer Drive, Richmond, KY died August 16, 2018, at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born April 4, 1933, in Disputanta, KY to Delbert and Minnie Mae (Lamb) Cruse.
He is preceded in death by his parents, his son, Ricky Cruse, grandson, Brett Benton, brothers, Junior Cruse, Paul Cruse, Charlie Cruse, Ernest Cruse and James Cruse.
Luther is survived by his devoted and beloved wife of nearly 68 years, Ella McIntosh Cruse, brothers; Ralph Cruse of Richmond, KY, Fletcher Cruse of Berea, KY, Floyd Cruse of Richmond, KY and one sister, Pauline Neal of Richmond, KY. He is also survived by four sons and six daughters; Les Cruse (Gayle) of Lake City, FL, Shirley Cruse (Danny) of Richmond, KY, Gail Price of Richmond, KY, Judy Bowling (MinYoung) of Berea, KY, Buster Cruse (Lisa) of Berea, KY, Sissy Ogden (Eric) of Berea, KY, Lorretta Cruse (Alan) of Paint Lick, KY, Jeff Cruse (Kathy) of Richmond, KY, Chris (Heather) Cruse of Richmond, KY, and Jennifer Cruse of Berea, KY, twenty-two grandchildren, twenty-four great grandchildren and one great, great grandchild.
Luther was a dedicated employee of Parker Seal Company from 1965 until his retirement in 1995. He was also a hard-working farmer who instilled the same work ethic in his children. Luther was an avid sports fan and enjoyed many years of coaching and mentoring young baseball players. Luther was of the Christian faith and took every opportunity to impart his wisdom to those he loved. One of his greatest joys was playing, joking and laughing with his many grandchildren throughout the years.
Visitation will be Saturday, August 18, 2018, from 10:00 am until 2:00 pm. Funeral Services will be officiated by James (JB) Alexander beginning at 2:00 pm, all at Lakes Funeral Home in Berea, KY. Burial will follow at Pilot Knob Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be grandsons, Craig Faulkner, Shawn Cruse, Shane Benton, Shannon Devere, Bryce Luther Seals, Justin Cruse, Josey Cruse, Jordan Cruse, Corey Cruse, Logan Cruse and great grandsons, Austin Benton, Andrew Devere and Matthew Devere.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Hospice Care Plus, Berea, KY. and the COPD Foundation of Kentucky.
Rawleigh Johnson, 77, of Berea died suddenly Tuesday, August 14, 2018 at St. Joseph Hospital Berea. He was a life-long resident of Berea born December 11, 1940, son of the late Herbert and Ethel Harding Johnson.
He was a retired Berea College Boone Tavern employee with 47 years of service, and member of New Vision Missionary Baptist Church.
Survivors include his loving wife of 53 years, Barbara S. Whittemore Johnson; 3 children, Tracy Johnson (Susie), Leah Johnson, Lenora Johnson; 3 sisters, Dorothy Wolfe (Bill), Barbara Steele (Bill), Faye Chamard; 11 grandchildren, Darian, Thomas, Tarol, Joe, Kristen, Nicki, Barbie Ann, Amanda, Beth, John, Katie; as well as numerous relatives and friends.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by 3 siblings, Howard Johnson, Shirley Hern, Jean Blevins.
Funeral Service 12:00 noon, Thursday, August 16, 2018 at New Vision Missionary Baptist Church with Pastor Glen Whittemore officiating. Burial will follow in Berea Cemetery. Visitation 11:00 AM Thursday. Memorial Contributions suggested to the American Heart Association. Reppert Funeral Home and Cremation Service entrusted with arrangements.
Ada Cody Tackett, 78, passed from this life Wednesday, August 15, 2018, after arrival at Baptist Health – Richmond. She was born September 1, 1939 in Perry County, Kentucky to Filmore and Nora Cody, both of whom preceded her in death.
She was a retired employee of the Madison County Schools serving in food service and was a member of Flatwoods Christian Church. Ada loved being a mother and grandmother.
Survivors include her husband, Doug R. Tackett, Sr.; one son, Bill Tackett (Brittney), all of Richmond; one sister, Ollie Applegate (Bill); and her grandchildren, Hannah Sullivan, Rebecca Tackett, Sarah Tackett, Eli Lay, and Emma Tackett, as well as several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one son, Douglas Ray Tackett, Jr. and numerous brothers and sisters.
Visitation for Ada will be from 10 AM until service time at 10:30 AM at the mausoleum chapel at Madison County Memorial Gardens, on Saturday, August 18, 2018, with Bro. Tim Jones officiating. Burial will be at Madison County Memorial Gardens. Oldham, Roberts & Powell Funeral Home is serving the family.

Mr. Mason Bolton, 80, passed away Sunday, August 12, 2018. Mr. Bolton, the son of the late Clyde Bolton and Evelyn King Bolton, was born in Madison County, Kentucky on May 28, 1938.
He enjoyed fishing, farming and being outdoors.
Survivors include his daughter: Tina Marie Ashcraft and Alan of Richmond; his brother: Jim Bolton of Berea; his sister-in-law: Frieda Bolton; two grandchildren: Jennifer Stagner and Bradley Stagner and wife Lakrista and one great grandson: Peyton Stagner.
Mr. Bolton was also preceded in death by his brother: Garnett Bolton.
A graveside service will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. Thursday, August 16, 2018, at Gilead Cemetery, 1275 Poosey Ridge Rd., Richmond with Bro. Bobby Casey officiating. Combs, Parsons & Collins Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Michael David Jones
Mr. Michael David Jones, 50, of Richmond, passed away on Sunday, August 12, 2018 at his home. He was born in Richmond, KY on February 9, 1968 to Lewis and Jewell Cox Jones. Michael enjoyed spending time with family and working with his animals.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by: his wife of 18 years, Jacqueline Foster Jones; two sons, Timothy and Jesse Jones; one brother, Lewis Jones, Jr. (Debbie); his nephew, Daniel Jones; as well as a host of other extended family and friends.
Private Services were conducted with the Combs, Parsons & Collins Funeral Home, W. Main St., Richmond.
Patsy Grigsby Prewitt Day, 87, widower of Clifton Prewitt and Ronald Day, passed away Aug. 14th. She was the daughter of William C. and Elizabeth Nelson Grigsby, granddaughter of Mose and Mary Nelson, niece of R.J. and Frances Nelson.
She was preceded in death by two brothers William Grigsby & Robert Grigsby. Survivors include her sons Clifton and wife Linda Prewitt III, and Stephen Prewitt; three grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren.
Services will be held on Friday, August 17th, 12:00 pm, at Heritage Funeral Home, burial will follow in the Richmond Cemetery.
Gary Marcus Reppert
Mr. Gary Marcus Reppert, 67, passed away Thursday August 16, 2018, at the University of Kentucky Hospital in Lexington, Kentucky with family by his side. He was born August 9, 1951, to the late Marcus and Mabel Johnson Reppert in Berea, Kentucky.
He was united in holy matrimony to Genievee McClure on February 15, 1975, with whom he loved with all of his heart. For many years he owned and operated the Sunoco Service Station in Renfro Valley and By Pass Auto Parts in Mt. Vernon. For the last 12 years of his work life he worked for RTEC in Mt. Vernon until he retired in 2010. He was a dedicated and faithful member of the Blue Springs Church of Christ where he served as a congregational teacher, song leader and treasurer. He loved his church family very much. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, rebuilding old cars and tractors, reading, watching sports, gardening and visiting his family homeplace. Gary was a dedicated servant of God, husband, papaw and friend.
Those left to celebrate his life are his wife Genievee Reppert, his children Emily Farah and Corey Craig and Marcus Aaron and Danielle Reppert, both of Mt. Vernon, KY; his grandchildren Landon Marcus Reppert, Walker Carson Craig, Nicholas Zade Reppert, Wyatt Kincade Craig, Wrett Isaacs Craig, and Alivia Gail Reppert; a sister Dolores Morris and husband Jim of Mt. Vernon, a brother Larry Reppert of Lexington, a sister Carolyn Morris and husband Rodger of Richmond, and a sister Kathryn Ensor and husband Darrell of Danville, as well as a host of nieces and nephews, friends and neighbors.
Besides his parents, he was preceded by a brother, Charles Alfred Reppert.
Visitation will be August 19, 2018 from 5:00 PM – 9:00 PM at the Dowell and Martin Funeral Home. A second visitation will take place on August 20, 2018 from 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM at the Blue Springs Church of Christ. Funeral service will follow at 1:00 PM at the church. Burial will be at the McKinney Cemetery.
Carrie Margie Cromer
Mrs. Carrie Margie Cromer age 78, of Mt.Vernon, passed away Sunday August 12, 2018 surrounded by her family. She was born on May 4, 1940 in Livingston, KY the daughter of the late Jesse and Nancy McVey Kirby.
She was a homemaker, enjoyed cooking, church, spending time with her family, grandchildren & great grandchildren, and was a member of the Sand Hill Baptist Church.
Survivors are: two daughters; Kathy Owens & (Brian) of Richmond, and Carolyn Isaacs & (Troy) of Mt.Vernon. One son; James Cromer & (Doris) of Mt.Vernon. Seven grandchildren, and eight great grandchildren also survive.
Besides her parents she was also preceded in death by: her husband; James Cromer, and by five sisters, and four brothers.
Funeral services for Mrs. Carrie Margie Cromer will be conducted 11 AM Wednesday August 15, 2018 at the Cox Funeral Home with Bro. Jerry Owens officiating. Burial will follow in the Sand Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be at the Funeral Home where friends may visit from 6 to 9 PM on Tuesday.
