Ronald Lee Collins Jr.
Ronald Lee Collins Jr. 50, of Jackson, Kentucky, passed away Tuesday, June 26, 2018, at Pikeville Medical Center. He was born November 23, 1967, in LaPorte, Indiana, to Ruth (Brown) Collins and the late Ronald Lee Collins, Sr.
Ronald was of the Christian faith and was a self-employed painter. He loved old cars and watching NASCAR. He won national awards playing horseshoes and enjoyed off-road four wheeling. He loved people and sharing the company of everyone, especially his children.
In addition to his mother, Ruth Collins, survivors include two sons, Ronald Lee Collins, III of Richmond and Jonathan David Collins of Richmond; one sister, Patricia Miller (husband, Jim) of Berea and a host of extended family and friends.
Visitation will be Saturday from 11 AM until 2:00 PM at Oldham, Roberts & Powell Funeral Home. Funeral service will follow at 3:00 p.m. at Madison County Memorial Gardens with Bro Harry Revel officiating.
Pallbearers will be Brandon Shepherd, Gary Wooten, Charles Kidwell, Timothy Gassett, Floyd Russell, Mark Settles, Gary Blanton, Johnny McGuinn, Noland Jones, Tony Walters and Paul Smith, Jr.
Charles Edward Hall
Charles Edward “Eddie” Hall, age 59, passed away Friday June 29, 2018 at his residence in Berea. He was born January 1, 1959 in Greensboro, North Carolina to the late Charles and Cora Loretta Adams Hall.
Eddie was a self-employed carpenter, a jack of all trades, he loved the outdoors, and was a devoted father and beloved husband. Eddie was of the Baptist faith.
Eddie is survived by his wife Chloie Violet Hall, by four children, Valerie Combs of Berea, Ky., Rebecca Garr of Georgetown, Ky., Crystal Carpenter of Berea, Ky., Jonathan Blair of Berea, Ky., by two brothers Robert Hall, Vernon Hall, two sisters, Maria Cole, Donna James, two grandchildren, Makenzie Carpenter, and Ralph Carpenter.
Other than his parents Eddie was preceded in death by one brother, Randy Hall, and one grandchild Kimberly Carpenter.
The family will be planning a Family Gathering at a later date. Davis & Powell Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Doug Earl Duerson
Doug Earl Duerson, 66, of Berea died Friday, June 29, 2018 at Madison Health and Rehab Center in Richmond. He was a lifelong resident of Berea, born February 3, 1952, son of the late Earl and Bertie Browning Duerson.
He was a Real Estate Broker with Coldwell-Banker Real Estate. Doug was an avid golfer, member of Berea Country Club, Berea Kiwanis Club and loved fishing.
Survivors include his son, Daniel Earl Duerson; dear friend and mother of his son, Brenda Duerson and her son Nathan Leonesio; sister, Debra Duerson Swinford (Ernie); as well as, special aunts, cousins, relatives, friends and golfing buddies.
Memorial Service 2:00 pm, Tuesday, July 10, 2018 at Reppert Funeral Home and Cremation Service with Bro. Jerry Browning officiating. Acceptance of friends at 1:00 pm. In accordance with Doug’s wishes he was cremated and private burial of his cremains will take place at a later date.

Minerva Long Bobbitt, 96, passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 24, at her home in Berea. Born in Indianapolis, Indiana, she was the daughter of Fred W. and Anna May Kendrick Long.
She was predeceased by one brother and three sisters, all of Indiana.
Minerva was the beloved wife of the late Dr. James Bobbitt. She cared deeply for her family, was an accomplished artist, and had a creative spirit, witty mind, and intellectual curiosity.
Minerva is survived by two daughters, Heather Bobbitt of Berea, Robin Rice (Garland) of Tryon NC, and one son, Chris Bobbitt (Elyse) of Bloomington, IN. Also surviving are three grandchildren, Ian Bobbitt, Evan Bobbitt and Laurel Underwood, and four great grandchildren.
Graveside services and burial will be private.
Patricia (Patty) Jackson – 67, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, June 26, 2018.
She was a retired registered nurse, loved her family, and was an avid quilter.
She was preceded in death by her granddaughter, Ashlie Nykhole Green, brother, Randall Ray Williams, and mother, Sarah Emma Hudgel Webb-Williams, father, Paul
Joseph Webb. She is survived by her loving husband of 28 years Ronald Wayne Jackson of Richmond, Ky; Daughters: Rhonda K Snyder (husband Rob) of Port Orange, FL., Shiloe Roberts (husband Jeff) of Richmond, KY., and Miranda Goins (husband Kevin) of Lakeland, FL.; Grandchildren: Dean Snyder (Jenny McKenney, fiancé), D.J. Roberts, Jacob Roberts, Jordan Roberts, James Green (wife Heidi); Great grand-children: Bradley Nykhole Green and James Henry Green; Brothers and sisters: Art Webb, Steve Williams, Rick Williams, Arlene Zerbee, Cindy Hay; And numerous nieces and nephews she loved including three special friends, Ruth Leigh, Ruth DeJarnette and Sally Sell.
Funeral service for Patty will be held at 1:00 PM Friday, June 29, 2018 at Oldham, Roberts & Powell Funeral Home, with Bishop Edwin Lainhart, officiating assisted by Rev. Garrick Williams. Burial will follow at Madison County Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 5 – 9 PM Thursday at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Dean Snyder, D. J. Roberts, Jacob Roberts, Jordan Roberts, James Green, and Jimmy Todd.
Louise (Whitamore) Smith, 73, of Franklin, NC, formerly of Richmond, passed away Monday, June 25, 2018 at her home. Born September 10, 1944, at Red Lick, Kentucky, she was the daughter of Harmon and Tommie Lakes Whitamore, both of whom preceded her in death.
Being the wife of an Air Force veteran, she had the opportunity to live in several cities, such as Loring, ME, Edwards, CA, and St. Petersburg, FL. She was of the Catholic faith and a retired assistant to the Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of St. Petersburg.
Louise is survived by her loving husband, Donald A. Smith, of Franklin; three children, Donald Smith, Jr., Michelle Smith Bardo, and Daniel Smith; six grandchildren, Anthony, Brittany, Patrick, Nicole, Breana, and Smith; four great grandchildren; one sister, Christine Breedlove; as well as, numerous nieces and nephews in the Madison County and Louisville area.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday, June 28, 2018, at St. Mark Catholic Church in Richmond, KY, with Father Tom Farrell officiating. Burial will follow a committal service at 2:30 PM in the Mill Springs National Cemetery at Nancy, KY. Visitation will be from 5 – 9 PM Wednesday at Oldham, Roberts & Powell Funeral Home, 1110 Barnes Mill Road, Richmond, KY
Patricia Diane Smith
Ms. Patricia Diane Smith, 66 of Richmond, died Sunday, June 24, 2018 at her home. She was born in Rockcastle County, KY on November 4, 1951 the daughter of Swannie and Martha Alice Turner Smith.
She was a retired respiratory therapist for Rockcastle Regional Hospital and was of the Church of Christ Faith. She loved being outdoors including gardening and fishing.
She is survived by two brothers, Ronnie Smith of Mt. Vernon and Jerry Smith of Louisville; and three sisters, Ola Smith of Mt. Vernon, Joanne Jones of Berea, and Sandra Cromer of Richmond.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Jesse Smith, Swannie Smith, and Darrel Smith; and two sisters, Sue Gambrel and Rose Smith.
Visitation will be June 26, 2018 from 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM at Dowell and Martin Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon, KY. Funeral service will be June 27, 2018 at the funeral home. Burial will follow at the Smith Cemetery.
Geneva Gill Hall, 92, formerly of Buckeye Rd. in Garrard County, passed away on the morning of Tuesday, June 26, 2018 at Compassionate Care Center in Richmond. Born Thursday, April 15, 1926 in Lancaster, she was a daughter of the late Hyatt & Sarah Davis Gill.
Geneva was a member of Liberty Baptist Church, enjoyed cooking & canning, & was a homemaker.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Hall; children, Billy Hall Wayne Hall, Bannard Hall, Dean Hall, Janice Hall, & Anna Shearer; brothers, Fred & Stanley Gill; sisters, Dorothy Abee & Beatrice Floyd.
Survivors include grandchildren, Jimmy (Christy) Hall, Frankie (Kendra) Hall, Jason (Emily) Hall, & Deneva Shearer, all of Lancaster, & Deana (Blake) Childress, of Rockcastle County, sixteen great-grandchildren, & one great-great-grandchild.
Funeral service will be 11:00 AM Friday, June 29, 2018 at Ramsey-Young Funeral Home, with Revs. Dallas Murphy & James Hardin officiating, with burial following at Lancaster Cemetery. Visitation will be held 6:00-8:00 PM Thursday, June 28, 2018 at Ramsey-Young Funeral Home.
Harry Columbus Jones
Harry Columbus Jones, age 95, of Witt Ridge Road in Irvine passed away Tuesday, June 26, 2018, at the Marcum & Wallace Memorial Hospital following a short illness. He was born August 14, 1922 in Clark County, KY and was the son of the late Alonzo Scott and Olivia Warner Jones.
He was a retired farmer and construction worker and a member of the River Drive Christian Church. He was a United States Army veteran of World War II and had lived in Estill County most of his life.
He is survived by His wife Anita Faye Crowe Jones, 1 Daughter Marian Carpenter of Winchester, 4 Sons Timothy Karl (Patricia) Jones of Richmond, Gary (Sandy) Jones of Texas, Scott (Joann) Jones of Irvine, Tom (Susie) Jones of Florida, 2 Sisters Nancy Kistner of Ohio, Virginia Ann Smith of Irvine, 1 Brother Emmett Lee Jones of Nevada, 12 Grandchildren of Several Great-Grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by 1 son, Terry Jones, 2 sisters; Julia Mae Parker and Juanita Griggs and 5 brothers; Cornelius “Buddy”, Kenneth, Lonnie Paul, Cecil Edward and John William Jones.
Funeral services will be conducted Friday, June 29, 1 PM at the River Drive Christian Church by Bro. Paul Groves. Burial will be at the South Irvine Cemetery. Friends may call between 6 and 9 PM Thursday at the Warren F. Toler Funeral Home and after 12 PM Friday at the Church.
Pallbearerswill be His grandchildren. Honorary Pallbearers will be River Drive Christian Church officers.
