Darlene Parker VanWinkle, 72, of Berea, died Thursday, July 19, 2018 at U.K. Hospital in Lexington. She was a life-long resident of Madison County born June 1, 1946 daughter of the late Enos and Fairy McHone Parker.
She was a retired Berea College laundry employee with 40 years of service and attended Berea Church of God. Darlene loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren, enjoyed reading her Bible, witnessing to people and singing with The Pearly Gate Singers. Her hobbies included cooking, bird watching and mailing cards to anyone who needed up-lifting.
Survivors include her loving husband, Boyd “Shorty” VanWinkle; 2 children, Jr. Chasteen (Regina), Trina Howard (Jason); step-daughters, Patricia, Marquita, Willie, Ramona; siblings, Betty Adams, Tubby Parker (Bethel Lee), Helen Powell (Chester), Debbie Quinley (Roy); grandchildren, Ashley, Jordan, Myra, Kimberly, Mishay, Faith, Tucker, Labriska, Breana; 16 great grandchildren; as well as numerous step-grandchildren, step great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, relatives, friends and church family. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by 2 siblings, Bonnie Baker, Ralph Parker.

Joseph Powell Price
Joseph “Joe” Powell Price, 47, the husband of Jennifer Sparks Price, passed away Thursday, July 19, 2018. Joe was born in Paintsville, Kentucky and grew up in Johnson County.
He later moved to Lexington, Kentucky to work at Carquest Auto Parts where he met his future wife, Jennifer. They were married in 1993 later moving to Garrard County. Joe was a truck driver for Carquest for over 20 years and retired in 2016 to follow his dream of being a farmer. Joe was devoted to his family and friends. Joe touched so many lives helping so many. His passions were farming and his beloved dogs.
Survivors include his wife, Jennifer Sparks Price; father and mother, James “Ken” and Sarah Price; his brothers and sister, Sherri Mollett (Jim), Ken Jr. (Cindy), Peter, and Jonah (Audrey); his father-in-law, Sherman Sparks; his aunt-in-law, Dana Maupin Sparks; numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and extended family.
Visitation will be Sunday evening, July 22, 2018 from 4-8pm at Lakes Funeral Home Berea. Funeral services will be 2pm, Monday, July 23, 2018 at Preston Funeral Home in Paintsville, Kentucky. Burial will follow in the Lake View Cemetery in Paintsville. Visitation will be Monday from 12pm-2pm at Preston Funeral Home.

Delena Peters Keltner, age 85, passed away Monday, July 16, 2018 in Richmond. Delena was born December 21, 1932 in Jackson County, Kentucky to the late Charley and Nellie Freeman Lakes.
She along with her husband were the owners of the drive-in theaters in Richmond and Mt. Vernon. She attended Newby Baptist Church as well as Richmond First United Methodist Church and was a former member of the Red Hat Society.
In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by her husbands, Glenn Peters and Jess Keltner and several siblings, Iona Lakes, Virginia Fox, Thelma Watson, Gracie Lakes, Phyllis Lakes, Vernon Lakes and Irvin Lakes.
Delena is survived by her siblings, Virgie Lakes, and Betty Huff of Gray Hawk, Berta Kingsley of Peora, IL, and Ken Lakes of Berea; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be 1pm Friday, July 20, 2018 at Madison County Memorial Gardens.
John L. Gadd
John L. Gadd, age 81 of Berea, passed away after a brief illness at U.K. Medical Center in Lexington. John was born in Rockcastle County to the late Casper and Charity Gadd.
He retired from NACCO Industries. He loved being with the Lord’s people and faithfully attended many churches for their services. John had a loving personality and enjoyed being around friends and family.
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by a daughter and son-in-law, John and Lavada Rowland; step-daughter, Brenda Richardson; two brothers, Billy Ray Gadd and Robert Gadd; and one sister, Betty Coffey.
He is survived by his loving wife Opal Baker Gadd; five children, Doug (Kathy) Gadd, Geraldine (Doug) Ford, Kay (Jesse) Adams, Jimmy Wayne Gadd, and Daisy (Michael) Richardson; two siblings Rosie (Teddy) Elam and Donald Gadd; ten grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 11am, Wednesday, July 18, 2018 at Crestview Holy Sanctuary with Bro. Leonard Wilder, Bro. Earmon Turner, and Bro. Bobby Hale officiating. Burial will follow in the Madison County Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Tuesday evening after 6pm at Crestview Holy Sanctuary.

Grace Anglin Chapman, age 92, wife of the late William Chapman, died Saturday, July 14, 2018 at the Wexford House Nursing Home facility in Kingsport, TN. Grace was born in Rockcastle County, KY on October 19, 1925 to the late Clara Williams and Benjamin F. Anglin.
She was a member of the Baptist faith. She was an employee of Peoples Restaurant for several years. She was also a housewife, caregiver, and loved to garden.
She was preceded in death by her son, James Earl Chapman of Port St. Lucie, Florida, her brothers, Robert Anglin of Berea, William Anglin of Clarksville, Georgia; her sisters, Barbara Murtha of New Milford, CT and Juanita Anglin of Frankfort, KY.
Grace is survived by her daughters, Frances (Jerrold) Pigg of Kingsport, TN and Debra Seals of Cincinnati, OH; daughter-in-law, Margaret Chapman of Port St. Lucie, FL; brother, Virgil (Ruby) Anglin of Berea; grandchildren, Michael Chapman of Gainsville, FL, Timothy Chapman of Indianapolis, IN, Jeffrey (Lori) Pigg of Kinsport, TN, Jennifer (Shawn) Huskey of Riverview, FL, Brian (Crystal) Seals of Denver, CO, Brandy (Benji) Dunn of Vicco, KY, and Bridget Seals of Berea. She also left behind several great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Jessie Boyd Dalton Jr.
Jessie Boyd Dalton Jr. 91, of Richmond, passed away Monday evening, July 16, 2018 at the Hospice Compassionate Care Center of Richmond. He was born September 13, 1926, in Richmond KY, to J. B. and Katie (Benton) Dalton, both of whom preceded him in death, and he was the husband of the late Betty Jo (Collins) Dalton.
Boyd was a retired lock-master at the Kentucky River for the Corps of Engineers and a member of Red House Baptist Church.
Boyd entered the U. S. Navy at the age of 17, and served in the South Pacific during World War II. He served on the USS San Francisco and in seven naval battles and received seven Battle Stars. Boyd loved to fish and to tell “tall tales and stories”.
Survivors include one daughter Sharon Meadors (Pete) of Richmond; one son, Gary Dalton(Susan) of Irvine; grandchildren, Brian Dalton, Sherri Eden, numerous extended grandchildren; one great-grandchild, Carlie Dalton and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and wife, Betty Jo, he was preceded in death by four sisters, Edna Oliver, Myrtle Tribble, Blanche Masters, and Margaret McClure; three brothers, Delmar “Ace”, Eugene “Slick”, and Arnold Dalton.
Funeral service for Boyd will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, July 21, 2018, at Oldham, Roberts & Powell Funeral Home with Ed Cortez officiating. Burial will follow at Richmond Cemetery, with military honors. Visitation will be from 5 – 9 PM Friday at the Funeral Home.

Troy Cornett, longtime resident of Richmond, Kentucky and beloved father and grandfather passed to his heavenly rest on 15 July 2018. He was born to the late Henry T. and Cassie Campbell Cornett in Linefork, Letcher County, Kentucky on 3 November 1935, leaving this world at 82 years of age.
Troy retired from the Unites States Army as a Command Sergeant Major in 1984 with 26 years of distinguished service. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War serving in four campaigns as part of the 196th Light Infantry Brigade, 23rd (Americal) division. He also served in Berlin, Germany as part of the allied occupation forces before and during the construction of the Berlin Wall. In addition, he served in the Korean theater and in the Honduras Sentry Eagle operation. He was awarded the Bronze Star, Vietnam Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Vietnam Cross of Gallantry Medal, Army of Occupation Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, and Drill Sergeant Identification Badge, among numerous other ribbons, awards, and commendations. After the Army, he worked at Eastern Kentucky University until retiring again in the late 1990s. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, and walking the hills of southeastern Kentucky. He will be remembered fondly by his family and friends.
Survivors include his son, Sean Troy Cornett and his wife Vonda of Nicholasville, Kentucky, and his daughter Nicole Ritchie and her husband Eric of Lexington, Kentucky. He is also survived by four grandchildren, Jackson Troy Cornett, Georgia G. Cornett, and Jude T. Cornett are the children of Sean and Vonda Cornett. Cameron E. Ritchie is the son of Nicole and Eric Ritchie.
Funeral services will be held at 11:30 AM on Friday, 20 July 2018 at Oldham, Roberts, and Powell Funeral Home on Barnes Mill Road, Richmond, Kentucky. Visitation will be from 10:00 AM until the time of service on Friday.

Estelle Rose Keene, 88, the widow of Robert Martin Keene, passed away Friday, July 20, 2018 at the Compassionate Care Center. Mrs. Keene was born on September 2, 1929, the daughter of the late Burnam and Nora Lainhart Rose.
She was a homemaker and a member of the Living Church of God.
Survivors include her four children: Connie Keene Baker (Burlen), Mark Randall Keene (Patricia Ann), David Ray Keene and Ramona Kay Keene; one brother: Herbert Rose (Geneva); four grandchildren: Robert Allen Keene, Troy Randall Baker (Jessica), Corrie Keene Neeley (Eugene) and Royce Amos Baker (Joanna); eight great-grandchildren: Nathaniel Kyle Baker, Ebony Hope Willis, Dalton Cole McQuire, Jonathan Alcorn, Bevin Grace Baker, Bailey Kate Baker, Kaden Baker and Blythe Amos Baker; as well as several nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Sarah Edith McQueen Dickerson, 93, of Richmond, the widow of Mr. Shirley Dickerson, passed away on Thursday, July 19, 2018 at the Hospice Compassionate Care Center. She was born in the Redhouse Community of Madison County on August 8, 1924 to the late Daniel C. and Rebecca Bishop McQueen.
Mrs. Dickerson was a life-long homemaker and enjoyed sewing, gardening and loved to spend time with her grandchildren. She was a member of the Baptist faith and looked forward to attending church.
Survivors include: her daughters, Rebecca Marshall (Dwight), and Freda Woosley (David); one sister, Mable Newman; four grandchildren, Scott Marshall, Curtis Marshall (Tori), David R. Ray Dargavell, 89, of Baldwin, widower of Esdell Rose Dargavell, passed away on Wednesday, July 18, 2018. He was born in Madison County on July 17, 1929 to the late Amby and Hattie Sowers Dargavell. Mr. Dargavell.
He was a retired business man and Farmer, and was a WWII Veteran of the US Army. He loved the outdoors and gardening, but he especially loved his grandchildren and great-grandchildren who affectionately called him “Papaw Ray” and “Suggies”. He was a member of the Bethel Christian Church.
Survivors include two sons, Donald Ray Dargavell (Mary) and Michael Wayne Dargavell (Lydia); two daughters, Connie Sue Wilson (Ray) and Beverly Lynn Applegate (Hairl); nine grandchildren, Amy Wilson, Jessica Hiten (Brian), Justin King, Jason Dargavell, Jo-Lynn Miller (David), Michael Joseph Dargavell (Whitney), Stephanie Alexander (Jimmy), Rocky Wayne Applegate (Stephanie) and Erica Wise (Justin); ten great-grandchildren, Emma, Kelsey, Kamryn, Colton, Houston, Hudson, Harlow, Joshua, Lacey and Lucas; as well as a host of other extended family and friends.

Mr. Leroy Marcum, 70, of Richmond, passed away on Wednesday, July 18, 2018 at the Hospice Compassionate Care Center. He was born in Madison County on December 3, 1947 to the late Tim Marcum Sr., and Christine Rogers Marcum.
He was a former heavy equipment operator and enjoyed taking boat rides and fishing.
He is survived by: his children, Chris Wright (Kate), Beth Voorhees (Will), Rebecca Root (Brandon) and Pete Stamper (Tim); two brothers, Tim Marcum Jr. (Muriel), and Wayne Marcum (Lisa); three sisters, Susie Strong (Donnie), Phyllis Christopher and Pat Rhorer (Kim); nine grandchildren, including a special granddaughter who has been his caregiver, Gracie Marshall; three great-grandchildren; one uncle, Paul Rogers; two aunt, Marie Stewart and Carol Rogers; as well as a host of extended family and friends.

Patricia Evelyn Bryant
Mrs. Patricia Evelyn Cole Bryant, 89, passed away on Sunday evening, July 15, 2018 at the Terrance Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Berea. She was born on May 27, 1929 in Knox County Kentucky to the late Grant and Bertha Bennet Cole.
She was a homemaker and attended the Grace Chapel Wesleyan Church.
Survivors include: her children, Phillip Bryant, Michael Wayne Bryant, Douglas Bryant, Carol Johnson and Gail Carter (Sam); one sister, Geraldine Masters; 6 grandchildren; 4 great- grandchildren; and a host of other extended family and friends.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by: her husband, Ulyess Bryant; one son, Johnny Grant Bryant; one brother, Caleb Cole; one sister, Lucy Jackson and one grandchild.

Mrs. Diane Fain, 76 of Mt. Vernon, died Thursday, July 19, 2018 at St. Joseph Hospital in Lexington. She was born in Cincinnati, OH on May 7, 1942 the daughter of Frank and Elizabeth Heidkamp Snider.
She was a retired florist who loved horses and was a member of Bible Baptist Church.
She is survived by two sons, John L. Fain of Mt. Vernon and Frank Fain and wife Misty of Richmond; grandchildren, John Larken and wife Skylar, Logan Wayne , Lanna Jo, Ethan and McKenzie; and two brothers, Paul Snider of Pensacola, FL and Frank Snider of Cincinnati, OH. Many nieces and nephews also survive.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Bobby Fain; and a sister, Beatrice Rose Schafer.

Carl Andrew Bullock
Carl Andrew Bullock age 72 of Brodhead, KY, husband of the late Brenda Mae Bullock , son of late Lowell Whitson and late Ida Whitson passed away Monday, July 16th, 2018 at Hospice Care Plus-Compassionate Care Center in Richmond, Kentucky. Carl was born on May 7th, 1946.
He was of the Baptist faith and enjoyed working outside, riding motorcycles.

Dana Ruth Powell
Dana Ruth Sargent Powell age 39, of Brodhead, KY, daughter of Matt Royce Sargent and Phyllis Jean Sargent passed away Sunday, July 15, 2018 at University of Kentucky – Albert B. Chandler Hospital in Lexington, Kentucky. Dana was born on March 13th, 1979.
She was of the Baptist faith and was a “speak her mind” kind of girl, who loved her children dearly. She enjoyed watching tv, drinking Mtn Dew, eating Hershey’s and just relaxing. She was always giving someone a smile and cutting up.

Harold Ray Lunsford
Mr. Harold Ray Lunsford age 75, of Mt.Vernon passed away Wednesday, July 18, 2018 at the Rockcastle Regional Hospital after a long illness. He was born on July 6, 1943 in Rockcastle County the son of the late Elmer and Mary Frances Lunsford.
He was a retired carpenter, a member of the Grace Baptist Church in Roundstone, Ky. for 46 years, was a former Sunday School teacher, he enjoyed Gaither Homecoming Music, Kentucky Basketball, and most of all spending time with his children & grandchildren.
Survivors are: his wife of 52 years; Pamara Cheryl Lunsford of Mt.Vernon. Three children; Tammy Powell & (Ray) of Berea, Jamie Doan & (Clinton) of Mt.Vernon, and Harold “Butch” Lunsford & (Shanna) of Mt.Vernon. One brother; Clyde Lunsford & (Helen) of Ohio. Six grandchildren; Nick Doan, Mathew Lunsford, Alisha Lewis, Ashley Powell, Ben Powell, and Rachelle Doan, eight great grandchildren also survive.
In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by; five brothers; Frank, Albert, Bill, Bob, and Everett Lunsford, by two sisters; Iva Houk & Evelyn Frith, and by his father and mother-in-law; Byron and Glenna Baker.
Funeral services for Mr. Harold Ray Lunsford will be conducted 2 PM Saturday July 21, 2018 at the Grace Baptist Church with Bro. Raymond Offutt & Bro. Matthew Lunsford officiating. Burial will follow in the Riddle Cemetery. Arrangements are by the Cox Funeral Home where friends may visit from 6 to 9 PM on Friday.
George Steven Hall
George Steven Hall, age 67, of Cobb Hill Road in Irvine passed away Friday, July 20, 2018, at his home following a long illness. He was born June 16, 1951 in Dayton, Ohio and was the son of Delilah Smyth Hall Gould and the late Loyd Hall.
He was a retired nurse with Baptist Health Richmond and had lived in Estill County most of his life.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Zelma Dean Hall.
Survivors in addition to his mother include 1 Sister Laura Minix of Madison Co., 2 Brothers Douglas Hall and Gregory Scott Hall both of Estill Co., Honorary Grandchild Gabreil Rose, Caretaker & Friend Oma Combs along with Several nieces and nephews.
Memorial services will be held at a later date. Warren F. Toler Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Lowell Clay Stone
Lowell Clay Stone, age 76, of Old Fox Road in Irvine passed away Wednesday, July 18, 2018, at the Compassionate Care Center following a short illness. He was born January 6, 1942 in Estill County and was the son of the late Luther and Lillie Tuttle Stone.
He was a retired employee of Bundy Tubing and had lived in Estill County all his life.
He is survived by His wife Nettie June Stepp Stone, 1 Daughter Karen (Donnie Freeman) Stone, 1 Son Jerry (Pam) Stone both of Irvine, 4 Grandchildren Chasity Wesley, Samantha Rawlins, Justin Shearer and Elijah Stone, 2 Great Grandchildren Samara Rawlins and Carlie Rawlins.
Memorial services will be conducted Saturday, July 21, 1 PM at the Warren F. Toler Funeral Home by Rev. Sandy Broadbent. Friends may call after 10 AM Saturday at the Funeral Home.
Regina Carol West
Regina Carol West, age 55, of Ticky Fork Drive in Ravenna passed away Saturday, July 14, 2018, at the Marcum & Wallace Memorial Hospital following a sudden illness. She was the daughter of Brenda Parsons Mays and the late James Ottie Mays and was born on April 18, 1963 in Estill County.
She was a retired Enersys employee and had lived in Estill County all her life.
Survivors in addition to her mother include Her husband Hubert Wayne West, 1 Daughter Taylor Means of Madison Co., 1 Step-Son Chris (Jessica) West, 2 Sisters Rhonda (Tim) Boian, Beth (Larry) Mays all of Estill Co., 3 Grandchildren Leander Meyer, Rowan Richmond and Lydia Noland and Her mother-in-law Eva West of Estill Co., and Several step-sisters and step-brothers.
Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, July 18, 1 PM at the Warren F. Toler Funeral Home Chapel by Bro. Donnie Watson. Burial will be at the West Family Cemetery. Friends may call after 10 AM Wednesday at the Funeral Home.
Delaney Gabbard was born May 16, 1999 in Madison County and departed this life Wednesday, July 16, 2018 in Somerset, being 19 years of age. He was the son of Ricky Gabbard of Sand Gap and Tammy Adkins Lunsford of McKee.
In addition to his parents, Delaney is also survived by his girlfriend, Katilyn Pearson; daughter, Layla Gabbard both of Somerset; siblings, Ricky Lee Gabbard, Tyler Lunsford and Keisha Gabbard all of Sand Gap. Other survivors include his step father, Scott Lunsford; grandmother, Vadis Adkins of McKee; and step grandparents, Leroy & Edith Lunsford.
Delaney was preceded in death by grandparents, Ronald “PeeWee” Adkins, Elgar Gabbard, Dorothy Gabbard and Jesse Mays.
Funeral service 11:00 AM Tuesday, July 24, 2018 at Lakes Funeral Home McKee with Bro. Gerald Maupin and Bro. Marvin Wilder officiating. Visitation will be July 23, 2018 at 6:00 PM at the funeral home.
