Linda Lewis Begley, age 60, wife of 45 years to Lewis Rhodes “Joe” Begley died Thursday June 21, 2018 at Saint Joseph Hospital in Lexington. Linda was born on December 1, 1957, in Berea, Ky., to the late James “Cobb” and Luie Carpenter Lewis.
Linda was a homemaker, a past employee of Berea Health & Rehabilitation, liked to cook for her family, crafting, enjoyed flower gardening, and wearing her jewelry. Linda was a member of the Middletown Baptist Church.
Other than her husband, Linda is survived by two daughters, Louise Begley of Berea, Ky., Patty Begley Hayes and her husband Andrew of Berea, Ky., one son, Brady Begley of Lexington, Ky., a sister-in-law Frances Lewis of Berea, Ky., three grandchildren, Aubrey Hayes, Ally Hayes, and Joey Begley.
Other than her parents Linda was preceded in death by one brother Elmer Lewis.
Funeral services will be 11:00am Monday June 25, 2018 at Davis & Powell Funeral Home with Rev. William Dooley officiating. Burial will follow in the Madison County Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be 5-9pm Sunday at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Brady Begley, Dewayne Lewis, Andrew Hayes, Ray Calico, Rodney Short, Thomas C. Begley and Steve Hayes. Honorary Pallbearers will be, Staff @ Berea Health & Rehabilitation.
Christopher Gary Long
Christopher Gary Long, 45 of Mt. Vernon, Kentucky, passed away unexpectedly June 18, 2018 at the St. Joseph Hospital. Christopher was born in Harrodsburg, KY to Ernest and Barbara Asbury Long.
Christopher worked as a mason for HB Masonry LLC and was a member of the Pentecostal faith.
He was husband to Addie M. Long and father to Brittny, Dillion, Taylor, Nathaniel, and Harlan Long. Christopher was also parent to his nieces Haley and Brooklyn Mink.
In addition to his parents, wife and children, Christopher is survived by brothers Ernest “Boo Boo” (Tammy) Long Jr, Tony Long (Tammy), Timothy Long (Melissa). He was preceded in death by his sister Amanda Long, loving grandparents James and Bertha Asbury, Russel Lee and Willie Mae Long, Father-in-law Arnold Ray McHone Sr., and brothers-in-law: Arnold Ray McHone Jr., Calvin Dooley, and Darrell McHone.
Services will be Friday, June 22, 2018 at 10 AM at Lakes Funeral Home Berea. Burial will follow at the Long home place. Visitation will be 5 to 9 pm Thursday, June 21, 2018.
Amanda Lynn Kelley
Amanda Lynn Kelley, age 38 of Berea, passed away at UK Hospital on June 18, 2018. Amanda was born in Great Bend, Kansas to Nora Lee Ernst Bowden and the late Brian Lee Ernst.
She was a substitute teacher for Berea Community Schools.
In addition to her mother, she is survived by her husband Joseph Kelley; three children Crystal Dawson, Seth Kelley, and Damian Kelley; two sisters, Jennifer and Adam Abney and Melissa Bowden; maternal grandmother Carol Gorman; and step fathers, Laurence Bowden and Steven Brown.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
Val Creech Randolph
Val Creech Randolph, 76, of Richmond, passed away Thursday, June 21, 2018. He was born in Liberty, Ky. on June 6, 1942, the son of the late Val Carson and Sarah Ellen Bryant Randolph.
Val was former owner of East Ky. Foods. He enjoyed farming, travelling and camping, and spending special time with his grandson.
Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Nancy Sheene Randolph; a son, Jeff Randolph (Holly); two daughters, Kim Sullivan and Nora Randolph, all of Richmond; his grandson, Carson Randolph; one brother, Bobby Dale Randolph (Neva), of Scottsburg, IN; one sister, Phyllis Cannon, of Liberty; a sister-in-law, Lillian Randolph, of Ohio; special friends, Jim Wells, Cliff Murphy and Glenn Newman.
Funeral Services will be conducted at 3:00 PM Monday at Combs, Parsons & Collins Funeral Home with Rev. Bruce Nettleton officiating. Burial will follow in Richmond Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1 – 3 PM Monday at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Terry Randolph, Jerry Randolph, Steven Randolph, Rick Cannon, Larry Land, Eliot Cannon and Pamela Grant.
Donald Wayne Hisle
Donald Wayne “Don” Hisle, 70, of College Hill, passed away suddenly Wednesday evening, June 20, 2018. He was born on June 21, 1947 in Madison Co., Ky., the son of the late James and Evelyn Griggs Hisle.
Don was a former employee of Begley Drug Co. and a retired employee of Eastern Ky. University where he mostly served as a Security Officer. Early in life, he joined the Salem Christian Church and later he attended the College Hill Methodist Church. Don enjoyed hunting and woodworking. He could take something broken and with great patience make it perfect again.
Survivors include his wife of 46 years, Imogene Campbell Hisle. Two sisters-in-law and three brothers-in-law and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his dog, Taco.
Funeral Services will be conducted at 10:30 AM Monday, June 25, 2018 at Combs, Parsons & Collins Funeral Home with Johny Collins officiating. Burial will follow in the Richmond Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4-8 PM Sunday at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Jim Rogers, Daniel Rogers, Adam Shoopman, Hugo Hernandez, John Gibson, David Woosley and Delbert Earl Campbell.
Harold D. Minter
Harold D. Minter, husband of Brenda, was born November 12th, 1962 in Jackson County. He departed this life June 17th, 2018 at his residence, at 54 years of age. Harold was the son of Dora Minter and the late Charles Minter.
He was preceded in death by his brothers Clifford and Cart Minter.
Survivors other than his wife Brenda and mother Dora include his step-children Harold (and wife Kenna) Hoskins of Horsecave, KY, Candy (and husband Keith) Chambers of Richmond, Helena and Mike Hensley of Richmond; eight grandchildren and one great grandchild; his siblings Darrell Minther of Pensacola FL, Gwen Rhodus of Waco, Loraine Minter of Waco; two step-sisters Opal Jean Jay of Richmond, IN, and Christine Newland of New Lebanon, OH.; five nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be June 20, 2018 at 1:00 PM at the Heritage Funeral Home.
Clara Ann Alcorn
Mrs. Clara Ann Bowling Alcorn, 75 of Mt. Vernon, died Thursday, June 21, 2018 at Rockcastle Regional Hospital. She was born in Rockcastle County, KY on September 30, 1942 the daughter of Lester and Collie Belle Alexander Bowling.
She was a homemaker and a devoted Christian. She found great joy in fellowship and singing with her church family as well as in sewing and canning. Her greatest pride, however, was in her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchild.
Those left to celebrate her life are: her husband, Ernest Alcorn; her children, John Kevin York and Mary Miller, both of Mt. Vernon; three sisters, Thelma Bowling of Richmond, Darlene Bowling of Mt. Vernon, and Eunice Hess of South Carolina; four grandchildren, Joanna Ambrose, Donna Ambrose, Carla Miller, and Margie Woods, all of Mt. Vernon; 14 great grandchildren, Katlyn Abney, Byron Abney, Dakota Powell, Kayla Powell, Selena Miller, Sabrina Miller, Brooklyn York, Skylar Cummins, Jasmine Kidwell, Jaime Kidwell, and Jesse Kidwell, all of Mt. Vernon, Mark Sanders and Donovan Sanders, both of Richmond, and Jimmy Harris of Russell Springs; and one great-great grandchild. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews; a special friend, Dora Fay Smith; and Nicholas Alcorn and Jessica Smith, whom she helped raise.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Lois Bowling; two brothers, Walter Bowling and Cloyd Bowling; a sister-in-law, Jewell Saylor Bowling; a granddaughter, Dora Faye Brewer; and an infant child.
Visitation will be Tuesday June 26, 2018 from 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM at the First Baptist Church Mt. Vernon. Funeral service will follow the visitation. Burial will follow at the Scaffold Cane Cemetery.
Mr. Leroy Sowder age 71, of Berea, and formerly of Mt.Vernon passed away Thursday June 21, 2018 at the Rockcastle Health & Rehab Center in Brodhead. He was born on December 22, 1946 in Mt.Vernon the son of the late Shirley and Meada Durham Sowder .
He was an Army Veteran of the Vietnam War, and was a member of the Baptist faith.
Survivors are: one son; Adam Sowder of Gray Hawk. One daughter; Robyn Setter of Fairfield, Oh. Three sisters; Irene Thomason, Martha Cox, and Shirley Cox all of Mt.Vernon. Three grandchildren also survive.
Besides his parents he was preceded in death by; three brothers; Virgil, Eddie, and Ernest Sowder, and by one sister; Virginia Rose Nichols.
Graveside services for Mr. Leroy Sowder will be conducted 10 AM Saturday June 23, 2018 at the Elmwood Cemetery with Bro. Luther Allen officiating. Arrangements are by the Cox Funeral Home.
Lyle Jeffery Elliott
Lyle Jeffery Elliott, age 61, of Jacquelin Court in Irvine passed away Thursday, June 21, 2018, at the Compassionate Care Center following a long illness. He was born June 2, 1957 in Connorsville, Indiana and was the son of Charles Lane and Ina Jewell Elliott.
He was a Trane Company employee and attended the Emmanuel Baptist Church. He was a United States Marine veteran and a member of the American Legion. He had lived in Estill County most of his life.
Survivors in addition to his father and mother include His wife Donna Faye Freeman Elliott, 1 Step-Son Joseph Case, Jr., 1 Sister Lisa (Donald) Noble both of Irvine, 3 Brothers Steve (Wanda) Elliott of Stanford, Mark Elliott, David (Jennifer) Elliott both of Irvine, Several nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted Monday, June 25, 2 PM at the Warren F. Toler Funeral Home Chapel by Bro. Sherl Thomas. Burial will be at the Flatwoods Cemetery. Friends may call Monday 11 AM until service time. Military honors will be performed by the American Legion.
Stephen Dwight Rison
Stephen Dwight Rison, age 48, of Rison Circle in Irvine passed away Wednesday, June 20, 2018, as the result of an automobile accident. He was born February 27, 1970 in Estill County and was the son of Mary Stella Horn Rison and the late Dwight Rison.
He was an employee of Okonite and a member of the Mt. Carmel Christian Church. He had lived in Estill Co. all his life.
Survivors in addition to his mother include Several aunts and uncles and a host of cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents: Earl and Rachel Rison and Leonard and Fannie B. Horn.

Kenneth Ray McKinney
Kenneth Ray McKinney, age 64, of Eighth Street in Ravenna passed away Sunday, June 17, 2018, at the Compassionate Care Center in Richmond following a long illness. He was born June 6, 1954 in Estill County and was the son of the late Hurley McKinney and Jeannette Stevens.
He was a truck driver with Swift and a member of the First Christian Church. He had lived in Estill County all his life.
He is survived by His wif Gwen Ellen Brantley McKinney, 2 Daughters Ashley Jean Oliver, Kendra (Anthony) Carpenter both of Estill Co., 2 Sisters Charlotte (Fred) Webb, Janice Hoover both of Estill Co., 1 Brother Roger McKinney of Jefferson Co. and 8 Grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by 2 sisters; Linda Adams and Brenda Shouse.

Brent Lee Baker of McKee, Kentucky was born August 28, 1970 to Jesse and Marva Cornelius Baker Jr.
Brent Lee is survived by his Mother Marva Baker and by four siblings, Keith Baker, McKee, Ky., Jessica Kirby and her husband Randall of Berea, Ky., Lisa Kay Sizemore and her husband Rod of Manchester and Tammy Roberts and her husband Kenneth of McKee, Ky. also by six nephews.
Brent was preceded in death by his father Jessie Baker Jr.
