Shortly before 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 28, 2018, deputies assigned to the Madison County Sheriff’s Office Street Crimes Unit with assistance from Madison County HIDTA Drug Task Force conducted a traffic stop on Robert R. Martin Bypass for a traffic violation.
Deputy Crutcher made contact with the driver of the vehicle at which time he detected a strong smell of marijuana. After a search of the vehicle, deputies seized suspected heroin, methamphetamine and marijuana.
Patrick Hatfield, 54 years old of Richmond, was arrested and charged with Excessive Windshield/Window Tinting, Trafficking in Controlled Substance, 1st Degree, 1st Offense (Methamphetamine), Trafficking in Marijuana and Trafficking in Controlled Substance 1st Offense (Heroin).
Hatfield was lodged in the Madison County Detention Center.
The Madison County HIDTA Drug Task Force is comprised of personnel from the Madison County Sheriff’s Office, Kentucky State Police, Richmond Police Department, Berea Police Department, and the Federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms.
