Public service is an important part of Jennie Haymond’s life in Madison County. She comes from a tight-knit military family – her father served in the Army and both of her siblings are currently Majors in the Air Force.
Haymond was raised in a Christian home, and under the guidance of her mother, she developed her work ethic and sense of accountability. “I was raised under the belief that anything worth having must be earned,” said Haymond. “Mom taught us to never underestimate the power of hard work and to be measured by the strength of our actions, not our words. Following those beliefs, it is important to me today to be elected by our people because I have truly earned their votes.”
Haymond has been practicing law for 13 years and prosecuting for over 10 years. “Being a prosecutor was actually a childhood dream of mine that is now being realized,” said Haymond. “Ever since I first learned what it means to protect the community you live in and to hold those accountable who seek to harm, I have never looked back.”
During her career as an Assistant County Attorney, Haymond has prosecuted cases ranging from felonies to misdemeanors, including juvenile, child support and dependency, neglect, and abuse cases. Additionally, she has represented the county by working with the fiscal court and managing her private law practice.
“Our society is at a critical point in time,” said Haymond. “We are facing such dangerous issues as the drug and opioid epidemic, violence against law enforcement officers, and the high-profile dangers within our schools. It is critical that we elect a county attorney who is ready to make changes to the policies of the old regime in order to better Madison County.”
