Mr. Ernest Shelton, 85, passed away on Tuesday, May 15, 2018, at his home. He was born in Madison County on October 11, 1932 to the late Joseph Shelton and Pearl Kidwell Shelton Ogle.
Ernest was a life-long farmer and friend to everyone who knew him.
He is survived by: Sandra Allen (Larry), who he raised like a daughter; granddaughter, Nikki Curtis (D.J.), and her children, Alaya and Emmi Curtis; his sister-in-law, Imogene Shelton; as well as nephews, nieces, and other extended family and friends.
Funeral Services will be conducted at 3:00 PM Sunday, May 20, 2018, at the Combs, Parsons & Collins Funeral Home, W. Main St., Richmond, with Bro. Jimmy Perkins officiating. Burial will follow in the Shelton Family Cemetery. Visitation will be after 1:00 PM Sunday, at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be: D.J. Curtis, Douglas Johnson, Tyler Matthews, Scott Johnson and Ronnie Shelton.
Vernon Thomas Curry
Vernon Thomas “Jam” Curry, 93, passed away Monday, May 14, 2018, at the Compassionate Care Center in Richmond. Mr. Curry was born on May 19, 1924 in the Baldwin Community of Madison County.
He was the youngest son of the late Charlie and Anna Asbill Curry. He was a World War II Veteran stationed in the Philippines, where he was a supervisor at the Japanese prison camp in Manila. He was a retired Ashland Oil Agent with 45 years of service and was a Kentucky Colonel.
He was an active member of The Red House United Methodist Church for 57 years, serving on numerous committees. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandpa and great-grandpa. He was an avid Coca-Cola collector. He enjoyed working word puzzles and watching UK Basketball games.
He was preceded in death by two sons-in-laws: Donnie Hendren and Michael Clay Johnson; three brothers: William, Cecil and Charles Curry; and one sister: Geneva Curry Jones.
Survivors include his wife of 68 years, Loretta Brittian Perkins Curry; three daughters, Janet Curry Murphy and husband Jerry Murphy, Sandye Curry Johnson and Tammi Curry Warren and husband Eddie Warren; six grandchildren, Angela Renee Grant, Bradley Thomas Hendren and wife Dr. Sara Hendren, Shelley Brittian Grant, Amanda Grant Burrows and husband Chad Burrows, Laura Warren Shockey and husband Devin Shockey, Lindsay Beth Warren and Matt Slusher; seven great-grandchildren, Devin Thomas Grant, Ava Lynn Hendren, Camille Elizabeth Hendren, Lilah Grace Burrows, Jaxon Thomas Grant, Aubrey Nicole Burrows and William Clayton Hendren; two step-granddaughters, Jeri Murphy Pruett and husband Michael Pruett and Jodi Murphy Yann and husband Ben Yann; four step-grandchildren, Sara Dean Blair and husband Shawn Blair, Matisen Land Murphy, Branson Pruett and Olivia Murphy as well as several special nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral Services will be conducted at 7 PM Friday, May 18, 2018 at Combs, Parsons & Collins Funeral Home with Rev. Randy Barnett officiating. Visitation will be from 4-7 PM Friday at the funeral home Committal Services will be conducted at 1:30 PM Monday, May 21, 2018, at Camp Nelson National Cemetery with full military rites observed.

Effie Mae Mason
Mrs. Effie Mae Mason, 82, the widow of Marvin Mason, passed away on Monday, May 14, 2018, at the Kenwood Health and Rehab Center. She was born on November 28, 1935 in Madison County to the late Cecil and Lou Ella Tackett Abney.
She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and enjoyed cooking and spending time working with her flowers. She was a member of the Peytontown Baptist Church.
Survivors include: her children, Barbara Johnson, Donna Drummond (Robert), Betty Felts (Charles) and Marvin Mason, Jr.; 3 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; 1 step-great-grandchild; several brothers, sisters, and other extended family and friends.
Funeral Services will be conducted at 10:00 AM Friday, May 18, 2018, at the Combs, Parsons & Collins Funeral Home, W. Main St., with Rev. Johnnie Bowen and Rev. Johnathan Tussey officiating. Mrs. Helen Gullett Hill, 97, the widow of Rev. Bruce E. Hill, passed away Sunday, May 13, 2018 at her home surrounded by her family. She was born September 21, 1920 in Jessamine County to Millard Gullett and Cora Hutchinson Gullett.
She was a homemaker, quilt maker, loving mother and grandmother. In her younger days, she loved to travel and had travelled to Israel twice, to Mexico and several states. She was a member of Livestone Penetecostal Tabernacle and the last founding member of Tates Creek Avenue Holiness Church which was founded in 1950.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one daughter: Elizabeth Katherine Hill and one daughter-in-law: Diana Hicks Hill.
Survivors include: three sons: Robert Hill (Rachel), Bruce Hill, Jr. and Donald Wayne Hill (Pam); four daughters: Patty Proctor (Buddy), Carolyn Eversole (Walker), Barbara Brandenburg (Billy), Geraldine Jackson (Jeff) and 15 grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be conducted at Livestone Pentecostal Tabernacle, 1783 Lancaster Rd., Richmond with Rev. Billy Keller and Pastor Ernie Wyatt officiating. Burial will follow in the Richmond Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00 – 9:00 P.M. Tuesday at the Combs, Parsons & Collins Funeral Home and after 12 noon Wednesday at the church.

Patricia Ann Helton
Mrs. Patricia Ann (Patsy) Helton, age 70 , of Brodhead, widow of Alan, passed away Tuesday, May 15, 2018 at her residence. She was born on February 22, 1948, a daughter of the late Evans Patrick (E.P.) Chandler and Opal Cummins Chandler.
Patsy had been an employee of Cintas Manufacturing for over fifteen years, and also worked as a nurses aide at Nursing Home in Ohio. She was of the Baptist faith, and found great joy in her grandchildren, gardening, especially flowers; and fishing.
On July 20, 1965 she was united in marriage to Alan Helton, Sr., and they enjoyed 42 years together, prior to his passing in 2007. From their union came three children: Kelly Ann, and twins Michelle Jean and Alan Curtis.
Those left to celebrate her life are: her children: Kelly Ann Schwartz of Brodhead, Ky; Michelle Jean Saylor (Rick) of Crab Orchard, Ky; and Alan Curtis Helton, Jr. (LaVonda Shawn) of Berea, Ky; her grandchildren: Nikki Ann Hacker, Brandon Alan Cameron, Steven Duff, Jr., Anna Michelle Schwartz, Meghin Paige Helton, and DeNault Huel Schwartz, III. Her great grandchildren: Charles Alan Bailey, Madison Rachelle Cromer, Hunter Wayne Cameron, Harleigh Elece Cameron and Aiden Wayne Hinds. Her sister: Linda Rose Collins (Leroy) of Savannah, GA. Her nieces & nephew: Patrick (Becky) Collins, Kim (Jerome) Smart and Eric Collins. As well as a host of friends and neighbors.
Besides her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a grandchild, Cody Alan Helton.

Willene Woodall Adams, age 83 of Berea, KY. widow of Jimmie, passed away Monday, May 14th, 2018 in Berea, KY. She was born on March 29th, 1935 in Crab Orchard, KY; a daughter of the late Willie Woodall and Lela Ross Woodall.
Willene was a member of the Hickory Grove Pentecostal Church. She enjoyed her family, gardening and canning. On July 13, 1968 she was united in marriage to Jimmie Lee Adams, they enjoyed 47 years together before his passing in 2015.
Those left to celebrate her life are: her children: Mickey Shaffer (Rita) of Mt. Carl Benton Doan
Carl Benton Doan, age 67, husband of Anna Helen McFerron Doan of 46 yrs. of Brodhead, KY; passed from this life on Monday, May 14th, 2018 at the Baptist Health Hospital in Richmond, KY.
He was the son of the late William Arlis Doan and Geneva Gentry Doan. He was born April 13th, 1951 in Burr Hill, KY.
Carl was a member of the Rose Hill Church. He had been a foreman for the Asplunda Tree Service for 12 years. He enjoyed his grandchildren and great grandchildren, Music, playing guitars and singing.

He attended the Life Church in Richmond, KY. Shawn enjoyed Motorcycles, family time and attending church.

Glenna Mae Baker
Mrs. Glenna Mae Carter Baker age 89, of Mt.Vernon, passed away Monday May 14, 2018 at the Berea Health & Rehab Center. She was born on August 16, 1928 in Rockcastle County the daughter of the late Charles and Suda Mae Riddle Carter.
She was a retired Customer Service Representative for the Parsons Gas Company, was Valedictorian of her class, enjoyed cooking, watching Andy Griffith, loved spending time with her grandchildren, and was a member of the Bible Baptist Church.
Survivors are: one son; Jimmy Baker and (Crystal) of Mt.Vernon. Two daughters; Linda Proctor, and Pam Lunsford and (Harold) all of Mt.Vernon. One brother; Kenneth Carter of Mt.Vernon. One sister; Irene Anderkin of Mansfield, OH. Nine grandchildren, fifteen great grandchildren, and twelve great great grandchildren also survive.
Besides her parents she was preceded in death by: her husband; Byron Baker, by four brothers, by three sisters, and by one granddaughter; Regina Morgan.
Funeral services for Mrs. Glenna Mae Carter Baker will be conducted 1 PM Thursday May 17, 2018 at the Bible Baptist Church with Bro. Matthew Lunsford, Bro. Travis Gilbert, and Bro. Jeremy Ellis officiating. Burial will follow in the Riddle Cemetery.

Lucille Palmer May, 100 of Richmond, formerly of Lancaster, passed away Monday, May 14, 2018 at Kenwood Health & Rehab in Richmond. Born March 05, 1918, she was a daughter of the late J.W. & Sarah Palmer.
She was a member of Eagles Nest Baptist Church in Florida, enjoyed sewing, & making quilts. Lucille loved people, “all people”.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles May, & “sweet” granddaughter, Regina Lyn May.
Survivors include a son, David (the late Pattie) May, of Richmond; grandson, Charles E. May, & a great-grandson, Hunter May.

Lynn Thomas Sparks
Lynn Thomas Sparks was born September 11, 1952 in Clay County and departed this life Thursday, May 17, 2018 at his daughter’s residence in Annville, being 65 years of age. He was the son of the late Lynnburg Sparks and Minnie (Miller) Sparks.
Lynn is survived by his daughter, Tabitha Eversole and her husband Craig of Annville and by the following siblings Elaine Neeley of Indiana, Danny Hensley, of Sand Gap, Ky., Chloe Sparks of Richmond, Ky. and Glen Sparks of Richmond, Ky.. Lynn was blessed with six grandchildren, Ty, Seth & Karley Turner and Briana, Ryan & Aaron Eversole.
In addition to his parents, Lynn was also preceded in death by Lynville Sparks, Lonzil Sparks, Jim Sparks, Elzona Vickers and Kay Creech.

Arlis “Doc” Hembree was born April 5, 1928 in Jackson County and departed this life Tuesday, May 15, 2018 at the Compassionate Care Center in Richmond, being 90 years of age. He was the son of the late James (Jim) & Rebecca (Noe) Hembree.
“Doc” was blessed with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
In addition to his parents, “Doc” was also preceded in death by his wife Georgia Maxine (Gentry) Hembree; by two brothers, Elmer “Bud” Hembree and Hubert Hembree and by three sisters, Viola Hembree, Ethel Money and Georgia Abrams.
“Doc” was a member of the Sand Gap United Baptist Church.

Jennifer Gail Turner
Jennifer Gail (Wolfe) Turner was born August 23, 1949 in Clay County and departed this life Tuesday, May 15, 2018 at the Compassionate Care Center in Richmond, being 68 years of age. She was the daughter of Helen Wolfe of Annville.
In addition to her mother, Jennifer is also survived by her daughter, Franchesa Kirkpatrick and her husband Bradley of Nashville, TN, by her son, Jeffery Turner and his wife Abigail of Neveda and by two aunts, Wilma Isaacs of McKee and Wanda Wolfe of Ohio. She was blessed with three granddaughters, Cheyenne, Krymson and Zoe Turner and by a host of cousins.
