Debra Jo Wilson Moore, age 56, died Thursday April 12, 2018 at her home. She was born in Lexington, KY on October 16, 1961 to Shirley Ann Pemberton Gilpin and the late Reo VanWinkle.

She was of the Baptist Faith, enjoyed sewing and knitting, loved horses and being with her family and friends.

Other than her mother she is survived by her brothers and sisters; Danny B. Wilson and his wife, Deannie of Lexington, KY., Kathy Poynter, and Lois Anglin both of Berea, KY., Lesley Wilson of Lutz, FL., Joyce Jones of DePere, Wi., and Judy Lake and her husband Randy of Berea, KY. A host of nieces, nephews and friends also survive.

Funeral services will be 3:00 pm Monday, April 16, 2018 at the Galilee Baptist Church with the Rev. Lee Abney officiating. Visitation will be 12:00 noon until 2:00 PM Monday at the church. Davis & Powell Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

William Lee Smith

William Lee Smith

William “Billy” Lee Smith, age 42, died Thursday April 12, 2018 in Lexington, KY he was born in Berea, KY on September 28, 1975 to William Henry and Kathy Fay Roberts Smith.

He was a self-employed carpenter, loved to fish, was an excellent wood carver making bird houses and walking canes for friends and family, he also enjoyed gardening. Billy was of the Holiness faith.

Other than his parents he survived by his children, William Lee Blake Smith, Brandon Nathaniel Baldwin Smith, and Alissa Brook Smith all of Berea, KY two brothers, Jerald David, and James Marvin Smith both of Berea, KY. One nephew, Jesse James Smith of San Diego, Ca. A host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends also survive.

Services will be 7:00 PM Monday April 16, 2018 at Davis & Powell Funeral Home with Rev. Bruce Alcorn officiating. Visitation will be 4-7 PM Monday at the funeral home.

Linda Lou Gray

Linda Lou Gray

Linda Lou Richardson Gray, age 70, died Thursday April 12, 2018 at Saint Joseph East in Lexington, KY she was born in Richmond, KY on February 15, 1948 to Hazel White Richardson and the late Ambrose Richardson.

She had worked as a nursing assistant at Berea Health Care. Mrs. Gray loved her flower gardens especially her Iris’ and Violets, she also enjoyed crocheting and quilting, her home and singing for the senior citizens center. Mrs. Gray was of the Pentecostal faith and attended the Hickory Grove Pentecostal.

Other than her father she was preceded in death by her husband, Delmer Gray.

She is survived by her mother, Hazel White Richardson of Berea, KY her son, Ronald D. Brown and his wife Melissa of Crab Orchard, KY her daughter, Stacy Ilene Stinson and her husband Kevin of Berea, KY her sister, Kathy Hembree and her husband Marty of Berea, KY her brother, Clyde Richardson of Somerset, KY three grandchildren, Tyler, Nickie, and Ruth Brown. A great grandson Rhett Nathaniel Brown and several nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be 1:00 PM Wednesday, April 18, 2018 at Davis & Powell Funeral Home with Rev. Randall Adams officiating. Burial will follow in the Wilmot Cemetery. Visitation will be 6-9 PM Tuesday at the funeral home.

Marjorie Conn

Marjorie Conn

Marjorie Moore Pullins Conn, 72, of Jackson County died Tuesday, April 10, 2018 at the Compassionate Care Center in Richmond. She was a Rockcastle County native born September 21, 1945, daughter of the late William Daniel and Christine Day Moore.

She was a retired human resources employee at K-I USA, and member of Berea Baptist Church. Marjorie was known for her flower gardens, her gardening talent, her love of nature and birds.

Survivors include her loving son, Clifford Pullins; 3 siblings, Russell Lowell Moore, William Daniel Moore, Jr., and Judy Carol Cash; as well as numerous relatives and friends.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Leroy Pullins and her second husband, Kenneth Conn.

In accordance with her wishes, Marjorie was cremated. Memorial Service 2:00 pm, Friday, April 13, 2018 at Reppert Funeral Home. Acceptance of friends at 1:00 pm.

Melissa Kelley

Melissa Yvonne Matthews Kelley, 53, passed away on Sunday, April 8, 2018 at the University of Kentucky Hospital. She was the wife of Darron R. Kelley. Melissa was born on February 3, 1965 in Richmond, Kentucky, and was the daughter of Otis P. Matthews and Angela Hahn Kaylor.

She was a member of Great Shepherd Ministries, and her Lord and grandchildren were her entire world.

In addition to her husband and parents, she is survived by: one son, Dwane Mullins, of Berea; two daughters, Brandi Johnson (Kenneth), of Berea, and Sabrina Kelley, of Rockcastle County; ten grandchildren, Katie, Abby, Matthew, and Brook Johnson, Braxton, Melissa, Dwane, Rayleigh, Ava Mullins, and Autumn Kelley; she was preceded in death by on grandson, Nathaniel Cain. She is also survived by one brother, Michael Oliver (Elizabeth); one sister, Stacey Kaylor; several nieces and nephews; several brother and sisters-in-law; and numerous aunts and uncles, including a special aunt, Lottie Haynes.

Funeral services for Melissa Kelley will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, April 13, 2018 at Oldham, Roberts & Powell Funeral Home with Bro. Jeff Jackson officiating. Burial will follow in the Richmond Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00 – 9:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 12, 2018 at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Kenneth Johnson, Kenneth Kelley, Dale Foster, Michael Oliver, Gary “Shorty” Matthews, Scott Johnson, Austin Webb, Cloyd Oliver, and Tommy Jones. Barron Kelley will serve as an honorary pallbearer.

Pamela (Fuller) Bouren Daniels, 74, of Winchester, KY, passed away Saturday, April 7, 2018 at her home. Born August 15, 1943, in Detroit, Michigan, she was the daughter of the late Robert Edward and Irene Veronica (Moore) Fuller.

Pamela was a retired patient advocate for Sayre Christian Village and she enjoyed playing Bunco and gardening. She also loved flowers and watching University of Kentucky basketball.

Survivors include her loving husband, Jack Daniels of Winchester; two daughters, Dawn Bouren Hickey of Richmond and Shawn Unzueta-Collins of Cookeville, Tennessee; one daughter-in-law, Elizabeth Bouren; two brothers, Robert Edward Fuller, II, and Michael Robert Fuller; nine grandchildren, Myles Bouren, Hayden Bouren, Dalton Bouren, Connor Hickey, Erin Hickey, Celina Unzueta, Olivia Unzueta, Xavier Unzueta, and Cooper Collins. She also leaves special friends, Penni Foreman and Donna Buttons.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one son, Kurt Allen Bouren and two sisters-in-law, Martha Castillo Fuller and Janice Cwiek Fuller.

Cheryl Renae McSorley Spivey, 57, of Richmond, passed away Thursday, April 12, 2018 at Community Hospice Care Center. Cheryl, the daughter of the late Frank E. McSorley and Mary L. Presley McSorley, was born in Huntington, West Virginia on May 30, 1960. She enjoyed cooking and working puzzles.

Cheryl united in marriage to Garry Spivey who preceded her in death on December 27, 2017.

Survivors include: two sons: Charles Bobby Spivey and Dickie Joe Spivey both in Richmond; two brothers: Charles Roger McSorley and wife Jennifer and Edward Eugene McSorley & three sisters: Brenda Lou Spurlock and husband George, Diana Lynn Givney and husband Richard and Rita Gail Emler and husband Rick.

She was also preceded in death by her brother, Robert Presley & sister, Phyllis Blair.

Graveside Services will be conducted at 11:30 Wednesday, April 18, 2018, at Richmond Cemetery with Bro. David King officiating. Combs, Parsons & Collins Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Barry Michael Lowery

Barry Michael Lowery, also known as Charlie, age 55, passed away Thursday, April 12, 2018 at Baptist Health – Richmond. Barry, the son of Wesley Gene Lowery and Betty Howell Lowery, was born in Madison County on January 25, 1963.

He was a self employed plumber and enjoyed fishing in his spare time.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by his wife of 30 years Brenda Barnes Lowery; their son: Robert Lowery and his brother: Tim Lowery and wife Bonnie.

The family has chosen private services. Combs, Parsons & Collins Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Rebecca Jones

Rebecca Jones, 50, of Richmond, passed away on Tuesday, April 10, 2018 at her home. Rebecca, the daughter of the late James and Frances Bristow, was born in Covington, Kentucky on December 31, 1967.

She loved her family and spending time with her grandchildren.

On August 9, 1985, she was united in marriage to Stephen Jones who survives. Rebecca was also survived by two sons: Jeffrey Scott Jones of Cornelius, NC and Bryan Anthony Jones of Waterloo, NY; her daughter: Alexicia Jones of Richmond; three brothers: James Bristow, Andrew “Skeeter” Bristow and wife Christeen and Jeffery Bristow; three sisters: Kimberly Rose, Toni Jo Bristow, Pamela Holt and husband Lloyd and four grandchildren: Natalie, Matthew, Kaliegh and Aiden J. Jones.

She was also preceded in death by her son: Stephen Lee Jones and her sister: Patricia Eddington.

The family has chosen private services.

Mr. Jerry Dee Montjoy, age 71, of Mt. Vernon, passed away Wed. April 11th, 2018 at the Rockcastle Hospital. He was born on April 2, 1947 in Paris, Ky., a son of the late Taylor Montjoy and Delia Merle Stewart Reams.

He had been an employee for Pepsi Cola Bottling Co. in Lexington, Ky. Jerry was a member of Flat Rock Baptist Church and found great joy in attending church, watching W. L. J. C., and UK Basketball.

Those left to celebrate his life are: his children: Trena Thomas of Mt. Vernon, Ky. and Terry Montjoy (Jessica) of Berea, Ky; his grandchildren: April Almon, Whitney Thomas, Sabrina . Summer, Aaron and Breydon Montjoy. His great grandchild: Noah Choudhry. His brothers: Perry Montjoy (Linda) of Scaffold Cane, Ky; Roger Reams of Mt. Vernon, Ky. and Kenny Reams of Orlando, Ky; His sisters: Phyllis McGuire (Manuel) of Orlando, Ky; Darla Reams Moore (Gary) of Orlando, Ky; and Glenna Settles (Larry) of Brodhead, Ky; as well as a host of nieces/nephews, friends and neighbors.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Anthony Reams and infant Bobby Reams; sister, infant Linda Montjoy; step father, Elmo Reams, Grandparents: Sam and Pairlee Stewart; mother-in-law: Margaret (Phillip) Helton.

Visitation for Mr. Jerry Montjoy will be Sat. April 14, 2018 from 6-9PM at Flat Rock Baptist Church. Funeral services will be conducted Sun. April 15, 2018 at 2PM at Flat Rock Baptist Church with Bro. Gordon Mink officiating; burial will follow in the Maple Grove Cemetery.

Bobby Mullins

Bobby Mullins

Mr. Bobby Mullins, age 80 of Berea, KY; Formally of Mt. Vernon, KY; passed away Sat. April 7, 2018 at his residence. He was born on June 12, 1937 at Climax, KY., a son of the late Shellie and Lizzie Clark Mullins.

He owned his own business and was well known for Bob’s Car Wash in Mt. Vernon, KY. He was a member of Maretburg Baptist Church, and found great joy in gardening, small engine repair, cars and his family. On July 11, 1964 he was united in marriage to Peggy Mullins and from that union came two sons: Robert Shellie and Scott Allan.

Those left to celebrate his life are: his wife of 53 years, Peggy Mullins of Berea, KY; his sons: Robert Shellie Mullins of Mt. Vernon, KY; and Scott Allan Mullins of Berea; his grandchildren: Zachary Harper of Berea, KY; and Hannah Mullins of Brodhead, KY. His brothers: Noah Mullins of Brodhead, KY; and Sam Mullins (Ruth Evelyn) of Climax, KY. His sisters: Marie Mullins of Ohio and Beckie (Cecil) Northern of Ohio; As well, as a host of nieces/nephews, friends and neighbors.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers: Cecil, Ben, Homer and Virgil Mullins; and a sister: Gracie Mullins.

Visitation for Mr. Bobby Mullins will be Wednesday, April 11th, 2018 from 6-9 pm. at the Marvin E. Owens Home for Funerals. Funeral services will be Thursday, April 12th, 2018 at 1 pm at the Funeral home with Bro. Kevin Slemp officiating; burial will follow in Cresthaven Cemetery in Mt. Vernon, KY.

Sallie Annette Bell, age 62, of Meadowlark Drive in Richmond passed away Thursday, April 12, 2018, at the Madison Health & Rehabilitation Center following a short illness. She was born December 11, 1955 in Wauchula, Florida and was the daughter of the late Norwood and Lalie Davis Durrance.

She was a retired McDonald’s employee and had lived in Florida most of her life.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Rolland Bell.

She is survived by 1 Daughter Denise Darcey of Estill Co., 2 Sons Dexter Bell of Estill Co., Dennis Bell of Florida, Several grandchildren.

Kenneth Joe Griffin

Kenneth Joe Griffin

Kenneth Joe Griffin, age 48, of Pineway Avenue in Irvine passed away Wednesday, April 11, 2018, at the Marcum & Wallace Memorial Hospital following a massive heart attack. He was born October 27, 1969 in Estill County and was the son of Judy Lynn Dozier Abney and the late Kenneth Griffin.

He was a graduate of Eastern Kentucky University with a degree in Geology and was a valued member of Abacus Engineering. He attended the Calvary Baptist Church and was a member of the Grateful Dead Club. His great passion was hiking through the Red River Gorge with his buddy, Riley.

He is survived by His mother, Judy Abney and best friend and step-father, Donald R. Abney, His aunts Sandy (Paul) Williams, Libby (Harry) Sipple, Nieces Jessica and Hannah Abney, Special Cousins Mark Williams, Karen Dozier and Katie Sipple Williams. He leaves behind his very special buddy, Riley, his dog.

He was preceded in death by his step-brother, Donald G. Abney.

There will be a gathering of family and friends on Saturday, April 14, between 11 AM and 1 PM at the Warren F. Toler Funeral Home Chapel.

Dexter Goosey

Dexter Goosey, age 70, of Bertha Court in Irvine passed away Tuesday, April 10, 2018, at the Compassionate Care Center. He was born May 18, 1947 in Lee County and was the son of the late James and Rhoda Spencer Goosey.

He was a retired Allen Company employee and attended the Pine Grove Pentecostal Assembly.

He is survived by His wife Carolyn Sue Flinchum Goosey, 2 Daughters Amy L. (Darryl) Rettburg, Vickie S. (Stephen) Spivey all of Irvine, 3 Sisters Betty S. Harrod of Frankfort, Lea Heagy of Dunedin, FL, Barbara Bicknell of Versailles, 2 Brothers Arvel Douglas Goosey, James Mosley both of Beattyville, 4 Grandchildren Jeremiah Spivey, Alicia Arnold, Noah Rettburg and Kara Rettburg, 1 Great Grandchild Amelia Spivey.

He was preceded in death by 2 brothers; Edward Goosey and Lenny Mosley.

Funeral services will be conducted Sunday, April 15, 2 PM at the Warren F. Toler Funeral Home Chapel by Bro. Sidney Sparks, Jr. and Bro. Kevin Phillips. Burial will be at the Cobb Hill Cemetery. Friends may call between 6 and 9 PM Saturday at the Funeral Home.

Blondell “Dale” Richardson Jr. age 51, of Wisemantown Road in Irvine passed away Monday, April 9, 2018, at the University of Kentucky Medical Center following a long illness. He was born April 22, 1966 in Winchester and was the son of the late Blondell and Emma Wierman Richardson.

He had lived in Estill County all his life.

He is survived by 3 Sisters Rhonda (Paul) Tipton of Madison Co., Camera (Robby) Wiseman, Andy (Marty Stapleton) Abney all of Estill Co., Nieces & Nephews: Trey Wiseman, Jessica Abney, Hank Wiseman and Hannah Abney

Graveside services will be conducted Wednesday, April 11, 1 PM at the Sunset Memorial Gardens by Beatle Lisle. Warren F. Toler Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Barbara Hays

Barbara Sparks Hays was born November 15, 1932 in Jackson County, Kentucky, and departed this life Tuesday, April 10, 2018 at her residence, being 85 years of age.

Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, John Sparks and Rosa (Wilson) Sparks; her brother, Virgil R. Sparks; and by the love of her life and husband of 69 years, Fred C. Hays.

She is survived by her three sons: Larry and his wife JoNell of Tyner; Dennis and his wife Brenda of Gray Hawk, and Tracy and his wife Connie of Berea; by six grandchildren: Jennifer, Shannon, Shaun, Stephania, Jordan, and Ashley; by five great-grandchildren, Nicholas, Delanie, Isabella, Jacob and Madison; and by her sister, Alpha Sparks Allen of Camp Dennison, Ohio.

Barbara was a devoted daughter, wife, mother, and grandmother. She dedicated her life to caring for family in sickness and in health. She was the primary caregiver for her husband in his illness and for many years cared for her mother, Rosa, in her home until her death at the age of 102. Her special gift was the wonderful meals she prepared for family gatherings to celebrate holidays, special occasions, and reunions. Her laughter and vibrant personality will be greatly missed. Barbara was a member of the Gray Hawk Baptist Church.

Funeral service was held Friday, April 13, 2018, at Lakes Funeral Home, McKee, Kentucky with Reverend Carroll deForest officiating. Burial followed at the Hays Family Cemetery in Gray Hawk.

Pallbearers were: Shaun Hays, Nicholas Hays, James Rakowiecki, Brian Post, Terry Sparks, and Matt Moore
