On Tuesday, April 17, 2018, shortly before 5:00 p.m., Deputy Paul Lay responded to Panola Road for a two-vehicle collision.
While responding to the collision, Deputy Lay was informed the vehicle and driver had fled the scene. Deputy Lay arrived and spoke with state highway workers. A state highway truck had been struck by a red pickup and as the driver fled the scene he struck a worker. The Kentucky State Police was notified and located the driver in Estill County.
Shannon Mays, 43, of Irvine was arrested and charged with Leaving Scene of Accident, three counts of Wanton Endangerment 1st Degree, Assault 2nd Degree, Operating on a Suspended or Revoked License, No Registration Plates, and No Registration Receipt.
Mays was lodged in the Madison County Detention Center.
