Berea Police Report Apr. 21, 2018

ARRESTED

DUI Arrest: On 04/15/2018 officers were called to the area of Village Drive in reference to a possible intoxicated driver. The caller reported that a subject had just left the Dollar General with a small child in the vehicle, and he appeared to be under the influence. The vehicle was located on Brenwood Drive, and a traffic stop was conducted. The driver had slurred speech, and strong smell of alcohol, and showed other signs of intoxication. There was also an eight year old passenger in the vehicle.

Officers arrested 51 year old Andre Morrison of Berea KY and charged him with Operating a Motor Vehicle Under the Influence 2nd Offense, Wanton Endangerment 1st Degree, and Careless Driving.

ARRESTED

Public Intoxication: On 04/13/2018 officers were called to St. Joseph Berea in reference to a female who appeared to be under the influence. When they located her, she showed several signs of impairment, and did not know where she was. As they tried to place her under arrest, she attempted to pull away and ignored verbal instructions.

Officers arrested 41 year old Regina Bellamy of Richmond KY and charged her with Public Intoxication and Resisting Arrest.

ARRESTED

Shoplifting Arrest: On 04/19/2018 officers were called to McDonalds on Glades Road in reference to two suspicious people in the restrooms. The two subjects left on foot before they arrived. While they were checking the area, a Walgreens employee flagged down an officer to report that a shoplifter had just left the store. The shoplifter matched the description of one of the subjects from McDonalds. The two subjects were located inside of Family Dollar, and one of them was in possession of stolen merchandise from Walgreens.

Officers arrested 29 year old Brittani Denny of Berea KY and charged her with Theft by Unlawful Taking Shoplifting.

PHONE SCAM

Scam: On 04/13/2018 officers were contacted by a resident who stated that she was scammed out of a large amount of money. She stated that she received a call from a person claiming to be a police officer from Cleveland Ohio. The person told her that her grandson had been arrested, and he put her on the phone with a person who claimed to be her grandson. The person told her that she needed to send a money order in the amount of $5,060.00 to get him out of jail. The victim sent out a money order, and later discovered that she had been scammed.

Theft: On 04/15/2018 officers were called to the 700 block of Richmond Road in reference to a stolen vehicle. The victim reported that a dump truck had been stolen. The vehicle was recovered later the same day in Rockcastle County.
