Vester Parker, 77 years old passed from this life on January 4, 2018 at Hospice Compassionate Care Plus in Richmond Kentucky. He was born February 26, 1940 to the late Dennis and Helen Parker. Vester was a retired contractor. He was a member of the Owsley Fork Baptist Church for thirty-five years. He enjoyed attending church and organized the special music for the church. He was also the Sunday School Superintendent for many years.
Anyone who knew Vester, knew him as a great “banjo man”. He was a talented musician. He was a Bluegrass/Gospel man and he enjoyed playing music with his family, friends and church members. In fact, if you mention music, he was there. He was the kind of man that would give you the shirt off his back or the last dollar in his pocket.
Vester is preceded in death by his parents, Dennis and Helen Parker and one brother James Parker. He is survived by his loving wife, Brenda and his 6 children; Jeffrey (Marcella) Parker, Michael (Stephanie) Parker, Janet (Greg)Moody, Beverly (Mitchell) Satterfield, Connie (Doyle) Graham and Kevin Parker; 10 grandchildren, Mark (Erlena) Parker, Jeffrey (Kayla) Parker, Amanda (Chris) Isaacs, Michelle (Barry) Martin, Daniel (Whitley) Croucher, Rebecca Croucher, Dustin (Samantha) Parker Jesse Parker, Brad (Amy) Hylton and Jill (Mark) Hylton; 16 great grandchildren, 7 brothers, Steve, Jerry, Roger, Donnie, Ronnie, Harold, Vernon and 1 sister, Geraldine. A host of nieces and nephews and many friends also survive.
Funeral services will be at Lakes Funeral Home in Berea Kentucky. Visitation will be Saturday at 11am for visitors and funeral at 1pm. Burial will follow at Pilot Knob Cemetery. Brother Danny Robbins will be officiating.
Pallbearers will be Jeff Parker, Mike Parker, Daniel Croucher, Jesse Parker, Dustin Parker and Jeffrey Parker.
