Bobby Kendall Ross
Bobby Kendall Ross, age 80, died Friday, November 17, 2017 at the Compassionate Care Center in Richmond, KY., a native of Booneville, KY., he was born March 18th, 1937 to the late Matt and Rachel Mayes Ross.
An avid clogger he loved to clog with his friends, he also enjoyed gardening and rabbit hunting with his beagles. Bobby was of the Christian faith.
Other than his parents he was preceded in death by a brother; Leon Ross and five sisters; Eudella Cole, Irma Lakes, Katherine Caudill, Ruby Lynch, and Gladys Ledbetter.
He is survived by his daughter, Janet Ross VanWinkle and her husband Jeff of Berea, KY., his grandson, Barkley Ross VanWinkle and his wife Amber of Georgetown, KY., a very special friend and companion, Gladys Bowman of Booneville, KY., two step daughters; Jackie Steppe of West Palm Beach, FL., and JoAnn Lovell and her husband Roy of Lexington, KY., two sisters; Freda McWhorter and her husband Cliff of Fairfield, OH., and Gwen Price of Hamilton, OH., and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Tuesday, November 21, 2017 at the Booneville Funeral Home 3450 KY Highway 11 North. Booneville, KY., 41314 with Bro. Jack Hall officiating. Burial will follow in the Ross Family Cemetery. Pallbearers will be, Barkley Ross VanWinkle, Jimmy Lynch, Ed Palmiter, Randall Spencer, Sam Wilson, Kenny Price, and Ed Ledbetter. Angela Dean Hensley Northern, age 45, widow of Charles Northern, passed away Sunday, November 12, 2017 in Richmond, Kentucky. She was born May 22, 1972 to Lloyd and Deanie Hensley.
Mrs. Northern loved to spend time with her grandchildren.

Dorothy Faye Phillips
Dorothy Faye Phillips, age 63, passed away Tuesday Nov. 14, 2017 at her residence in Mt Vernon. She was born Jan. 10, 1954 in Berea Ky.
Dorothy enjoyed raising a garden, growing flowers, making crafts, and loved to play Bingo. Dorothy was of the Holiness faith.
Dorothy is survived by one sister, Donna Gadd of Berea, four brothers, Danny Leger and his wife Sissy of Berea, Steve Leger of Berea, Phillip Leger and his wife Joan of McKee, Mike Leger and his wife Libby of Mt. Vernon, twelve nephews and eight nieces.
She was preceded in death by her mother Icey VanWinkle Leger and step father Jim Leger, by one sister, Ada Harvey, by four brothers Leon Leger, James Leger, Samuel Leger, and Ronald Leger.
Funeral services will be 1:00pm Friday, Nov. 17, 2017 at Davis & Powell Funeral Home with Bro. Vester Alexander officiating. Burial will follow in the Leger Cemetery in Rockcastle Co. Visitation will be Thursday 6-9pm at the funeral home.

Eva Lois Miracle
Eva Lois Miracle age 85 of Gabbardtown Road, passed away Monday, November 13, 2017 at The Terrace in Berea. Eva was born in Rockcastle County to the late Simon and Cora Ann Ellison Cupp.
She had worked for Cowden’s in Stanford, sewed in a factory and was a homemaker and cared for her boys. She was a member of the Berea Church of God.
In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by her husband Calvin Miracle, and nine siblings, Charlie Cupp, Billy Cupp, Robert Cupp, Freddie Cupp, Roy Cupp, Marvin Cupp, Cecil Cupp, Bonnie McGeorge and Edna Kalice.
She is survived by her four children, Charles (Barbara) Miracle, Douglas (Julia Rosenburg) Miracle, David (Elaine) Miracle, and Thomas (Wanda) Miracle; one brother, Gary Cupp; one sister, Mildred Moore; eight grandchildren; and six great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 1pm, Thursday, November 16, 2017 at Lakes Funeral Home Berea with Bro. Stephen Hobbs officiating. Burial will follow in the Saylor Cemetery in Rockcastle County. Visitation will be Wednesday evening from 6-8pm at the funeral home.
Paul Irvin Combs
Paul Irvin Combs, 57, of Berea, died suddenly Sunday, November 12, 2017 at St. Joseph Hospital-Main, Lexington of complication following a heart attack. He was a Hazard, Kentucky (Perry County) native born December 27, 1959, son of the late Dilce and Euna Lamb Combs.
He was a self employed home construction worker, specializing in painting and laying carpet. Paul was an Honorable Kentucky Colonel, an amazing athlete having run in numerous marathons, played soft ball and basketball, and was a member of the Holiness Faith.
Survivors include 5 siblings, Billy Embree, Dale Embree, Wayne Combs, Oscar Combs, Betty Rothermil; sister-in-law, Eula Crane Combs; 9 nieces and nephews, Regina (James) White, Robin Combs, Phillip Combs, Scott Boswell, Amanda Windfield, Josh Rothermil, Michael Rothermil, Tyler Combs, Ryan Combs; and 6 great nieces and great nephews.
In addition to his parent he was preceded in death by 4 siblings, Donald Ray Combs, Dilce “Junebug” Combs, Mary Jane Combs, and Bobby Lee Combs.
In accordance with Paul’s wishes, he was cremated. A Remembrance Gathering for Family and Friends will be held from 1:00 pm – 3:00 pm, Sunday, November 19, 2017 at Reppert Funeral Home. Private burial of the cremains will take place in the Combs Cemetery.

Linville May Jackson
Linville May Jackson, 61, husband of Patricia Lynch Jackson, passed away Thursday, November 16, 2017 at the compassionate care center in Richmond. Linville was born February 13, 1956 in Richmond, KY to the late Jefferson Webb and Mary Willie Tipton Jackson.
He was a self-employed janitor and was of the Pentecostal faith.
Other than his wife Patricia, he is survived by two sons Joshua (Angela White) Jackson, Matthew (Stephanie Renee) Jackson, three daughters Stephanie (Adam) Turner, April Jackson and Desarae (J.D.) Scott and five brothers, Jeff Jackson, Sam Jackson, Larry Jackson, David Jackson and Tony Jackson as well as several grandchildren.
Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister Linda Jackson.

John James Craig
John James ‘Jimmy John’ Craig, 73, of Richmond, passed away Wednesday, November 15, 2017, at Baptist Health in Lexington, Kentucky. He was born December 2, 1943, in Harlan County, to William ‘Bill’ and Mattie Linville Craig, both of whom preceded him in death.
He worked for the coal industry as a Coal Preparation Plant Supervisor and Tipple Foreman and was a member of Waco First Baptist Church.
Jimmy John is survived by his wife, Nadine Turner Craig; two sons, James Edward (Melvetta) Craig of Sassafras, Ky and Rick (Cheryl) Craig of Hanson, KY; two daughters, Sheila Craig (Pete) Bailey of Richmond, KY and Stacy (Billy) Salyer of Lexington, KY. He is also survived by a brother, Pete Craig, a sister, Myrtle Jones, his step-mother, Shirley Craig, his step-brother, Bryce Fields and eight grandchildren, Dwight Wilson, Cole Bailey, Caleb Craig, Joshua Craig, Ethan Bailey, Cyrus Craig, Ian Salyer and Blake Salyer.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two brothers, Billy Joe Craig and Glen Craig.

Malcom O. Bishop
Malcom O. Bishop, 89, went to heaven on Monday, November 13, 2017. He was preceded in death by his wife, Reba Rose Tipton Bishop. Malcom was born on December 3, 1927 in Stanford, KY, and was the son of the late Francis Marion and Rosa Lee Coy Bishop.
He was retired from the food service department of Eastern Kentucky University and was a member of the Lancaster Road Church of God. Malcom enjoyed visiting and singing at local nursing homes. He also enjoyed UK sports.
Survivors include: one son, Mike (Shannon) Bishop, of Paint Lick, Mike’s mother, Serena Hazlett Mullikin, of Richmond; one step-son, Ernie Lee Adams (Charlotte), of Richmond; two step-daughters, Donna Tipton Gordon (Glenn), of Lexington, and Rita Kaye Adams, of Hardeeville, SC; seven grandchildren, Serena Renae Stanger, Rachel Diane Bishop, Valerie Leeanne Adams Short, Jennifer Adams Bowman, Shane Lovely, Allison Gordon Davis, and Curtis Gordon; and six great-grandchildren.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by one brother, Frank Bishop, and three sisters, Martha Bailey, Elizabeth Terry, and Ruth Morgan.

Betty Alice Holland
Betty Alice Holland, 68, passed away on Thursday morning, November 16, 2017. Born in Blackey Kentucky, she was the daughter of the late Willie and Anna Caudill Eldridge.
She retired from Johnson Control as a Machine Adjuster in the battery division after over 30 years of dedicated service. Betty enjoyed UK Basketball, listing to music and traveling – especially going to the beach. Most importantly, she enjoyed her family, and looked forward to spending time with them.
She is survived by: her children, Veronica Stewart (David), Justin Holland (Jessica), and Crystal Holland (Micheal Kelly); one sister, Susie Webster; four grandchildren, Hailey Nicole Stewart, Ava Presley Stewart, Jorja Dezeray Holland, and Lily Des Marie Hruban.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Bobby Bryan Eldridge, George W.C. Eldridge, and Curtis Lee Eldridge.

Pauline Dunaway Hughes, 95, the widow of Ray Hughes, passed away Friday morning, November 17, 2017. Pauline was born on September 20, 1922 in Perry County, Kentucky, the daughter of the late, William and Arizona Keith Dunaway.
She was a retired employee of The Bluegrass Army Depot at AVON and was a member of the Waco Baptist Church. She loved her family and her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the love of her life.
In addition to her husband and her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving daughter: Marva Ann Hughes Fassas; six brothers: Nick, Orville, Gentry, Junior, Virgil and Dillard Dunaway; and one sister: Maycel Dunaway Davis.
Survivors include her son: William Charles “Billy Ray” Hughes (Janean); her son-in-law: Alexander Fassas; four grandchildren: Demetrius Fassas, Shannon Snapp (Dana), Keary Snapp and Mindy Snapp Jump (Brian); three great-grandchildren: Ben Christopher Snapp, Bryce William Snapp and Isaac Allen Jump; two sisters: Faye Dunaway Fugate (Harlan) and Verna Dunaway Casey; several nieces, nephews and other family members.

Billy Bowling Sr.
Billy Bowling Sr. 89, of Kirksville, passed away Friday, November 17, 2017 at Baptist Health Hospital in Richmond. He was born on December 8, 1927 in Garrard Co., Ky. the son of the late Emory Layton and Anna Belle Bowling Baker.
He was a retired Project Manager from Whirlpool and a member of the Paint Lick United Methodist Church. Billy was an avid fisherman and after retirement enjoyed spending his winters in Florida fishing. He loved his grandchildren dearly and cherished his time with them.
Survivors include his wife, Geneva Ray Bowling; one son, Billy Bowling, Jr. (Kathy); one daughter, Sandra Bowling; four grandchildren, Cynthia Russell (Chad), Amy Arnold (Kristoffer), Jamie Beth Clark (Jeff), and Russ Bowling (Janie); four great grandchildren, Kole Arnold, Jack Bowling, Maecy Arnold and Jackson Clark.
He was preceded in death by siblings, Woodford Bowling, Doris Lee Oliver and Howard Layton Bowling.

William Edward Reynolds
Mr. William Edward Reynolds, 94, of Richmond, passed away on Tuesday, November 14, 2017, at his home. He was born on March 17, 1923 in Madison County to the late Edward and Kate Short Reynolds.
Mr. Reynolds served his country in the US Navy during WW2. He was a retired route supervisor for Coca-Cola Bottling Company. Mr. Reynolds enjoyed fishing and gardening. He was a member of the Honorable Order of Kentucky Colonels.
Survivors include: his daughter, Kathy Lou Reynolds; as well as several nieces, nephews and extended family and friends.
He was preceded in death by: his wife, Juanita “Edith” Reynolds (d. 2013); and two sisters, Della Johns and Jewell Dean Lowery.
Funeral Services will be held at 3:00 PM Friday, November 17, 2017, at the Combs, Parsons & Collins Funeral Home, W. Main St., with Pastor Malcolm Hester officiating. Burial will follow in the Richmond Cemetery. Visitation will be after 1:30 PM Friday, at the funeral home.

Hershel Clay Miller
Hershel Clay Miller, 86, of Boyle Co., passed away Monday, Nov. 13, 2017 at his home. He was born on Sunday, Sept. 6, 1931 in Madison Co., Ky., the son of Burnam and Eva Foster Miller.
He was a graduate of Kirksville High School, a member of Kirksville Baptist Church and a Veteran of the U. S. Air Force. Hershel worked as a Real Estate Broker and Auctioneer for more than 56 years. He was a partner in the former Miller-Patton Auction Co. and in recent years owner of Hershel Miller Auction Co. He auctioned livestock in various stockyards, Madison Sales, Garrard Co. & Boyle Co. Stockyards, Bluegrass in Lexington and Bourbon in Louisville for many years. He was the owner of Millers Marina on Herrington Lake and served on the Board of Directors of First Southern National Bank. He loved his work, fishing and outdoors, visiting with family and friends and was an avid UK Basketball fan.
Survivors include his wife, Vena Holbrook Miller; son, Rick Miller (Peggy); daughters, Eva Pollard (Gary) and Vickie Record (Bobby); brother, Burnam Miller, Jr. (Doris); devoted family friend, Jackie White; 9 Grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Betty Jane Snyder (Glenmore).

Johnny Mack Riddell
Johnny Mack Riddell, 71 of Berea, passed away Monday morning, November 13, 2017. Johnny was born on April 25, 1946, in Richmond, the son of the late Virgil Riddell Sr. and Susie Kidwell Riddell.
He was a retired construction worker and was a member of the Church of God.
Survivors include: one son: Jonathan Mack Riddell and his mother: Joyce A. Harrison; one sister: Flossie “Flo” Riddell Hill as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives.
In addition to his parents: he was preceded in death by five brothers: Dallas, Donald, George, Virgil Jr., and Howard Mason Riddell.

Betty Jane Prewitt
Ms. Betty Jane Tate Prewitt, 86, of Berea, passed away Sunday morning, November 12, 2017 at The Terrace in Berea. Ms. Prewitt, the daughter of the late William Gibson Tate and Annie Green Tate, was born in Madison County on April 15, 1931.
She had worked as the Manager of Rose’s Country Porch and was a personal caregiver for patients in their home. She loved to travel and was an avid collector of dolls, as well as, cups and saucers. She had attended Faith Created Assembly of God.
Survivors include: three sons: Phillip Terry Prewitt and wife Carol of Lexington, Jackie Wayne Prewitt of Crestview, FL and James Edward Daugherty and wife Karen of Richmond ; her daughter: Becky Gregory and husband Robert of Berea; nine grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren, two great great grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Ms. Prewitt was also preceded in death by her son: Robert Earl Prewitt; a grandson: Joshua Edward Daugherty; three brothers: William Tate, Jr., Owen Forrest Tate and James Wesley Tate and four sisters: Geneva Berryman, Ruth Richardson, Elizabeth Roark and Thelma Nance.

Valeria Perkins Land, 91, the widow of Rufus “Tag” Land, passed away, Saturday, November 11, 2017 at her home. Mrs. Land was born on July 25, 1926 in Madison County, the daughter of the late Eddie and Minnie Woods Perkins.
She was a homemaker and a longtime member of the Big Hill Christian Church.
In addition to her husband and her parents, she was preceded in death by her two children: Teresa Gayle Boggess and Gregory Lee Land, her sister: Mary Evelyn Hubbard, her brother: Squire Elton Land as well as other family members.
Survivors include: Three grandchildren: India Alexandra Land, Chase Gregory Land and Brian Rogers (Holly); and three great-grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.

Mary Lou Thomas
Mary Lou Haddix Thomas, 86, passed away Sat., Nov. 11, 2017 at Compassionate Care Center. She was born in Breathitt Co., Ky., the daughter of the late Alex and Martha Nettie Lasher Haddix.
She graduated from Madison High School in 1948 and earned a B. A. Degree in Business and Communications from Eastern Ky. University at the age of 75. Retired as a Medical Assistant from St. Joseph Hospital, she enjoyed sewing and knitting and was a member of First United Methodist Church.
Survivors include her son, Gary Thomas; a grandson, Spencer Thomas, two great-grandsons, Paul Hayden and Blake Thomas; a brother, Ralph Haddix; four nieces, Betty K. Miller, Ann McAlpin, Susie Maple and Becky Ostermeijer; a nephew, David McAlpin.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Martha Ann Thomas; two sisters, Jenny McAlpin and Betty Ruth Haddix.
A Memorial Service will be conducted at 1 PM Wednesday, Nov. 15, 2017, at First United Methodist Church with Rev. Bruce Nettleton officiating. Burial will follow in the Haddix Cemetery at Lost Creek in Breathitt Co., Ky. Combs, Parsons & Collins Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Millie Marie Couch
Millie Marie Couch, 68, passed away Thursday, November 16th, 2017 at her home. She was born on August, 9th, 1949 in Evarts, KY to the late Curtis & Marie (Husky) Carr. In June of 1968 she was united in Holy Matrimony to Charlie Couch Sr. and from that union came Charlie & Christine.
She enjoyed her flowers, yard work and her cats.
Those left to celebrate her life are: her children Charlie (Rebecca) Couch Jr. of Quincy, MI, and Christine Couch (Terry) Barnes of Mt. Vernon, KY; her grandchildren Ty & Alivia Couch, Danny & Heather Barnes, and Tiffany Barnes Cooper; her brother Roy Carr of Richmond, KY; and her sister Mary Marcum of Manchester, KY.
Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her brothers Jack, Earl, Floyd, John L. & David Carr; and an infant Wannie Carr.
Visitation for Millie will be held from 10-12PM Monday, November 20th, 2017 at the Marvin E. Owens Home for Funerals with funeral services following at 12PM with Bro. Rick Reynolds officiating.
Graveside Services will be conducted on Monday at 3:30PM at the Carr family cemetery in Evarts, KY.
Ruby Mae Sparks
Ruby Mae Sparks, age 72, of North Keeneland Drive in Richmond, passed away Friday, November 17th, at her home following a short illness. She was born April 28, 1945, in Lee County, a daughter of the late Sherman and Nannie Jones Barrett Dozier.
She was a homemaker and a member of the White Hall Holiness Church.
She is survived by Her Husband: Earl Junior Sparks, A Daughter Kimberly Bourland of Chapel Hill, TN, 3 Sons Flemon Junior Sparks of Springfield, TN, Michael Glenn Sparks and Marcus Eugene Sparks of Richmond, KY, 2 Sisters Ruth Sparks of Madison Co., Eva Collins of Estill Co., 9 Grandchildren and 8 Great Grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by 2 Sons: Charles Earl Sparks, Danny Lee Sparks, 2 Sisters: Blanche Sparks, Lizzie Barrett, and 4 Brothers: John, Claude, Charlie, and Lester Barrett.
Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday 11 AM at the Pine Grove Pentecostal Church by Bro. Sydney Sparks and Bro. Elvie Evans with burial to follow in the Boian Cemetery. Friends may call between 6 and 9 PM Monday at the church.
Lewis William Rose
Lewis William Rose, age 83, of Rose Ridge Road in Irvine passed away Wednesday, November 15, 2017, at the Stanton Nursing Center following a long illness. He was born May 4, 1934 in Estill County and was the son of the late Earnest and Carrie Judd Rose.
He was a farmer and had lived in Estill County most of his life. He was preceded in death by his wife, Allene Lutes Rose.
He is survived by 1 Daughter Jeanette Stepp & husband, Billy of Irvine, 2 Sons Glenn Rose of Irvine, Travis Rose & wife, Sharon of Richmond, 6 Grandchildren Amy Taylor, Travenna Flynn, Julie Rose, Cindy Pryor, Dwayne Rose and Shawn Stepp, 12 Great Grandchildren and 1 Great-Great Grandchild.
He was preceded in death by 2 sisters; Fairy Rose Warner, Ferbie Rose Hall and 5 brothers; Norman, Nolan, Linville, Nathan and Lonnie Rose.
Funeral services will be conducted Friday, November 17, 1 PM at the Warren F. Toler Funeral Home Chapel by Bro. David Watson. Burial will be at the Rose-Freeman Cemetery. Friends may call after 11 AM Friday at the Funeral Home.
Tammy Ramey Spurlock of Tyner, KY was born August 28, 1960 in Hamilton, OH and departed this life on Thursday, November 16, 2017 at the Compassionate Care Center in Richmond, KY, being 57 years of age.
Tammy is survived by her loving husband of 38 years, Jerry Spurlock of Tyner; 2 daughters, Brandi Nunn and her husband Travis of Gray Hawk and Caitlyn Johnson of Tyner. She was blessed with 5 grandchildren, Briley Rose, Mason Johnson, Ava Smith, Mason Nunn & Lily Nunn. She also leaves behind her only sister, Penny Whitehead (Ernest) of McKee; a brother, Keith Ramey (Darla) of Gray Hawk; 1 nephew, Adam Whitehead; 3 nieces, Ashley Judd (Will), Paige & Kaitlyn Ramey; her little granny, Zanna Hunter and 2 brothers in law, Dennis & Darrell Spurlock. Tammy was also blessed with 2 great nephews, Kaleb & Keaton Judd; by 1 great niece, Kinley Judd and a multitude of other family and friends are left to mourn her passing.
Tammy was preceded in death by her precious mother, Della Jean Culton and beloved brother, Shane Culton. She was also preceded in death by her father, Roland Ramey and many other family members.
Tammy was General Manager of The Jackson County Sun and a member of The House of Refuge in McKee.

Beatrice Lynch was born April 22, 1938 in Jackson County and departed this life Tuesday, November 14, 2017 at the Claiborne Medical Center in Tazwell, TN, being 79 years of age. She was the daughter of the late Lerman & Dema (Wright) Gray.
Beatrice is survived by four children, Linda Akemon and her husband Phillip of Tyner, Kay Nunn of McKee, Bill Lynch and his wife Judy of Richmond and Jamie Lynch of Ohio; and by a son in law, Riley Singleton of McKee. She is also survived by three sisters, Olene (Wes) Angel of North Carolina, Christine (Baxter) Mills of Richmond, IN and Lola (Ray) Cole of Cambridge City, IN and a brother, James (Darlene) Gray of Brownsville, IN. Beatrice was blessed with ten surviving grandchildren, Phillip Wayne (Missy) Akemon, Jason (Holly) Akemon, Holly Akemon, Melissa (Bill) Miller, Dustin Lynch, Steven (Cheyenne) Nunn, Kayla Nunn, Matthew Singleton, Sonny Singleton, Cheyenne Singleton, by nine great grandchildren and one great great grandson, Lincoln Akemon.
In addition to her parents, Beatrice was also preceded in death by a son, Ray Lynch; by a daughter, Trish Singleton; by one granddaughter, Bridgett Nunn; two sisters, Imogene Fox & Bobbie Potter and by two brothers, Harmey Gray & Cecil Gray.
Funeral service 2:00PM Saturday, November 18, 2017 at Lakes Funeral Home McKee. Burial followed in the Ray Lynch Cemetery. Visitation will be 11:00AM Saturday, November 18, 2017 at the Funeral Home.
