Join the fun at the Spoonbread Festival this September 15-17. Corporate sponsors for the 2017 Spoonbread Festival are: Berea Chamber of Commerce, Berea Tourism Commission, City of Berea, Saint Joseph Berea, Realty World – Adams & Associates, The Berea Citizen and the Richmond Register.
The weekend will kick off with a cornhole tournament and hot air balloon glow on the Berea Community School lawn, Friday, September 15. Bring the family and your lawn chairs to watch the evening sky light up as the hot air balloons glow and enjoy a picnic on the lawn with our food vendors. Saturday morning, meet back on the Berea Community School lawn for free tethered balloon rides (weather permitting).
Under the entertainment tent at Memorial Park, you’ll find acts Kristi Miller, Walker Montgomery, Encore of Lexington, The Promise Trio and many more throughout the weekend. The Bluegrass Players will put on a show as they present Kids Say the Darndest Things and The Carol Burnett Show on Saturday.
The antique tractor show will take place Friday 3:00 – 8:00 p.m. and Saturday 10 a.m. – 8:00 p.m. at the Russell Acton Folk Center.
Lace up your running shoes Saturday morning and join the 5-K Run / 1-Mile Fun Run/Walk with registration beginning at 7:30 a.m. at Berea Community School. Join us later Saturday morning for the Motorcycle Poker Run, Show and Rally.
The parade will make its way through town at 2:00 p.m. Saturday afternoon. The parade route is: W. Jefferson St, N. Broadway, Chestnut St., Ellipse St. and ends at Berea Community School.
New this year is the Skateboard Relays event taking place throughout the day on Saturday on Jefferson Street. The winner of each relay will be entered in a drawing for an Aluminati skateboard.
The fun continues Saturday with the exciting tradition of the Spoonbread Eating Contest. Cash prizes will be awarded to the top contestants. Saturday evening, bring your pup for the Dog Show beginning at 5:00 p.m.
Sunday, stroll through the park as hot rods line Jefferson Street from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. The festival closes Sunday evening at 5:00 p.m.
Spoonbread will be sold throughout the weekend under the Spoonbread Tent located next to the large Entertainment Tent. Spoonbread will also be sold at a tent at the Hot Air Balloon Glow on Friday evening.
The Spoonbread Festival began in 1997 and has grown to attract 50,000+ attendees in its most recent year. That’s visitors from 30 states and 66 Kentucky counties. With nearly 200 vendors and a packed schedule of events, the festival offers something for everyone.
