Berea Tourism Commission awarded several grants to fund local events


In addition to the Berea Makers Market Holiday 2017, which takes place on Nov. 18 at the Russel Acton Folk-Recreation Center in Berea, the Berea Tourism Commission recently awarded several grants to fund local events, along with in-kind support for advertising where appropriate.

Events funded include:
Twilight Christmas Parade, $1,600.
Sustainable Berea, $2,500:
Battle of Richmond: $1,000:
Berea Maker’s Market: $500:
Berea Celtic Festival, $500:
Berea Chamber of Commerce, $5,000:
Swing for a Cure, $1,000:
Berea Arena Theater $2,500:

AMP Levitt Music Series: Ali Blair, with sponsorship from the Berea Arts Council, requested a partnership with the commission, and the commission voted to promise a $3,000 cash match if Berea is selected to stage the AMP Levitt Concert Series in 2018.

Berea Quilt Extravaganza: Though the commission voted to cover costs for last August’s event, organizers announced the show would be suspended for 2018 due to less-than-expected attendance.
