Margaret Ann Lamb
Mrs. Margaret Ann Lamb, 62 of Fairview, died Friday, July 28, 2017 at St. Joseph Hospital in Lexington. She was born at Fairview in Rockcastle County, KY on March 6, 1955 the daughter of Albert Foister and Helen Jean Pelphry Lamb.
She was a cashier for Wal-Mart and attended Glades Christian Church in Berea.
She is survived by a son, Robert Ray Willis of Richmond; a daughter, Heather Smith of Mt. Vernon; three brothers, Danny Lamb of Florida, Darrell Lamb of Mt. Vernon, and Gary Lamb of Renfro Valley; and five sisters, Alberta Wilson of Jackson, Linda Swinford of Mt. Vernon, Rose Lamb and Anita Bradley, both of Brodhead, and Loria Lamb of Renfro Valley. Also surviving are two grandchildren, Austin Kaleb Willis and Robert Jonathan Rhodes.
Visitation will be August 4, 2017 from 12:00 PM – 1:00 PM at the Dowell and Martin Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon. Funeral services will be directly after the visitation.
Linda Roberts Durham
Linda Roberts Durham, age 64, wife of Donnie Durham, died Friday, July 28, 2017 at the University of Kentucky Medical Center. Mrs. Durham was born March 8th, 1953 in Franklin, Ohio to the late Roy and Cellia Lamb White Roberts.
She was a homemaker, loved spending time with her family and friends but most of all loved her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, she was of the Holiness faith and a member of the Cartersville Holiness Church.
Other than her parents she was preceded in death by, her son, Ralph D. Durham, Jr. two brothers, Roy Lee Roberts, Jr., and James Roberts.
Mrs. Durham is also survived by, her children, Renea Gadd, Michael W. Durham, and Jason M. Durham all of Berea. Four sisters, Freda (Raymond, Jr.) Damrell, Delores (Dennis) Chadwell, Kathy (William) Smith all of Berea, KY., and Bonnie Burton of Springboro, OH. Her sister-in-law Lola Roberts of Berea also survives. 10 grandchildren, Kenny Gadd, Nick Gadd, Nicole Gadd, Courtney Damrell, Tyler Sparks, Jacob Sparks, Kayla cope, Dustin Sparks, Jay Durham, and Arayaha Durham, and three great grandchildren, Logan Saylor, Payton Richmond, and Kenton Damrell along with a host of nieces, nephews and friends also survive.
Funeral services will be 1:00 pm Wednesday, August 2nd, at Davis & Powell Funeral Home with Rev. Donnie Pingleton and Rev. Bruce Alcorn officiating. Burial will follow in the Flat Gap Cemetery. Her nephews will serve as pallbearers. Visitation will be 5-9 pm Tuesday at the funeral home.
Avia Gene Brock Sr.
Avia Gene Brock Sr. age 81 of Berea, passed away suddenly at Baptist Health in Richmond on July 26, 2017. Avia was born in Rockcastle County to the late Robert Duncan and Bessie Mae Rowlette Brock.
He was a truck driver and president of the Scaffold Cane Cemetery Association.
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his wife Isabella Gillispie Brock, one daughter Paula Dean Brock and two brothers Foster and Rube Brock.
He is survived by his five children, Linda (Billy) Dooley, Carolyn Sue Brock, Jeannie (Brian) Johnson, Cherri (Doug Lakes) Brock, and Avia Gene (Sharon) Brock Jr.; seven grandchildren William (Sherry) Dooley, Adam (Heather) Dooley, Brian Clay (Emily) Johnson, Hannah Johnson, Haley Johnson, Hunter Farley, and Avia Gene Brock III, six great grandchildren Kailynn, Carson, Karlee, Brady, Jacob, and Mallory Dooley.
Funeral services will be 1pm, Saturday, July 29, 2017 at Lakes Funeral Home Berea with Rev. William Dooley and Rev. Adam Dooley officiating. Burial will follow in the Scaffold Cane Cemetery. Visiation will be Friday evening from 6-9 pm at the funeral home.
Active pallbearers will be Bryce Gill, Matt Walker, Troy Blair, Clay Johnson, Hunter Farley, and Billy Brock. Honorary bearers will be Avia Gene Brock III, Kailynn Dooley, Karlee Dooley, Hannah Johnson, Haley Johnson, Carson Dooley, Brady Dooley, Jacob Dooley and Mallory Dooley.
Esther Bowman (Lamb), age 92, of Berea, passed away, Sunday, July 23, 2017, at Berea Health Care Center. Esther was born in Madison County to the late Miller and Cynthia Isaacs Lamb.
She was a homemaker and member of Big Hill Holiness church for over 65 years.
In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by her husband, Arnold Bowman; two sons, Jesse Bowman and Vernon Bowman; five grandchildren; and nine siblings: Willard Lamb, Vincent Lamb, Alvin Lamb, Vernon Lamb, Gracie Abrams, Etta Garrett, Lola Pennington, Martha Baker, and Mary Liza Lakes.
She is survived by her remaining seven children: Mary (Leonard) Abrams, Helen Davidson, Carolyn Clark, Arlene (Frankie) Anderkin, Virginia (Kenneth) Carroll, Ronald (Sheila) Bowman, and Michael (Wilhelmina) Bowman; one daughter-in-law, Evelyn Bowman; one brother, J.B. Lamb; 24 grandchildren, 38 great grandchildren, and 9 great-great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 11 A.M., Wednesday, July 26, 2017, at Big Hill Holiness Church in Jackson County. Burial will follow in the Clark Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday evening from 6-9 P.M. at Lakes Funeral Home in Berea.
Pallbearers will be Kenneth Michael Carroll, Preston Bowman, Randy Anderkin, Aaron Bowman, Derick Bowman, Doug Abrams and Donnie Davis. Honorary bearers will be the remaining grandsons.
Carson Thomas Watts
Carson Thomas Watts, 17 months old, died Wednesday, July 26, 2017 in the Fairview Section of Rockcastle County. He was born February 1, 2016 in New Port Richey, Florida and had been a resident of Kentucky for the past month.
Survivors include his mother, Rachel Perez; father, Zachary Watts; sister, Sophie Hart; maternal grandfather, Hector Perez; maternal grandmother, Rebecca Hart; maternal step-grandfather, Peter Fuentes; paternal grandmother, Nikki Johnson; maternal great-grandparents, John & Betty Hart; maternal step-great grandparents, Peter & Rose Marie Fuentes; uncles and aunts, John Hart, Jr., Lori Hart, Ryan Garcia, Gage Fuentes, Christina Perez, and Lennex Fuentes; as well as numerous relatives and friends.
Funeral Service 2:00 pm, Saturday, July 29, 2017 at Fairview Baptist Church with Pastor Vaughn Rasor officiating. Burial will follow in Hart Cemetery. Visitation at the church after 12:00 noon on Saturday. Reppert Funeral Home entrusted with arrangements.

Curtis Ray Cooksey
Curtis Ray Cooksey passed away peacefully at his residence on July 23, 2017 after a brief illness. Curtis was one of twelve children born to the late Blemmer and Amanda Cooksey on July 3, 1944.
He worked retail for over 40 years having retired from Walmart in 2006. During his retirement he enjoyed listening to music, especially Elvis, singing gospel hymns, watching western films on television, and working puzzles.
Curtis was a United States Marine veteran having proudly served his country during the Vietnam War. He was also an active member of the Union City Christian Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Marvin and Wendell Cooksey, and two sisters, Mae Harrod and Ella Ashley.
He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Sharon McGinnis Cooksey, and his son Robert (Heather) Cooksey. He is also survived by two granddaughters, Isabella and Marlee, whom he adored and affectionately called his “pals”. He leaves his “pals” with memories of fun trips, working puzzles, hugs and kisses, playing board games, and eating popsicles on the tailgate of his old red pickup truck. He also leaves to mourn him, five brothers: Adrian Cooksey, Gerald (Kathy) Cooksey, Paul (Betty) Cooksey, Harold (Becky) Cooksey and Dale Cooksey, and two sisters, Wanda Coffee and Jessie Enlow, along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 27, 2017 at Oldham, Roberts & Powell Funeral Home with Minister Chip Denief officiating. Burial will follow in the Richmond Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 26, 2017 at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Ernie Boardman, Wayne Cerny, Glenn Foley, Shane Lakes, Randy McGinnis, and Eugene Turner. Honorary pallbearers will be Curtis’ brothers and sisters.

Tommy Zendle Lay
Tommy Zendle Lay, 68, of Richmond, passed away Thursday, July 27, 2017. Tommy, the son of Martin Calvin Lay and Stella Elizabeth Bowlin Lay, was born in Jellico, Tennessee on June 21, 1949.
He was the retired owner of Lay’s Building and Remodeling. He enjoyed talking and joking with all those he met. Tommy was also a U.S. Army Veteran.
On December 21, 1990, Tommy was united in marriage to Elizabeth Applegate Lay who survives. He is also survived by two sons: David Lay and wife Kimberly and Marshall Lay all of Richmond; his daughter: Carolyn Stout of Williamsburg, OH; his brother: Lonnie Lay; three sisters: Mary Hinkle, Dory Bingham and Flonnie Cox; 10 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
Tommy was also preceded in death by his son: Tommy Lay, Jr.; two brothers: Martin Lay, Jr. and Robert Lay and three sisters: Roberta Privette, Rosebud Lay and Dorothy Lay.
Funeral Services will be 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, August 1, 2017 at Combs, Parsons & Collins Funeral Home with Rev. Charlie Wilson officiating. Visitation will be from 5:00 – 9:00 P.M. Monday at the funeral home.
Donald Ray Rose
Donald Ray Rose, 71, of Richmond, passed away Saturday, July 22, 2017 at St. Joseph Hospital – East in Lexington. Donald, the son of the late Donald Carl Rose and Marie Griffin Rose, was born in Estill County on March 4, 1946.
He was the owner of Rose’s Plumbing. He also enjoyed fishing and hunting.
Survivors include four daughters: Tammy Ogans (Johnny), Donna Thacker (Mark), Linda Moore and Carol Rose; his brother: Gary Broughton; two sisters: Patricia Collingsworth (Bob) and Debbie Muncie; nine grandchildren: Shawn, Joshua, Johnny, Mark, Jessica, Crystal, Steven, Sylvia and Shane and a number of great grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be conducted at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, July 26, 2017 at Combs, Parsons & Collins Funeral Home with Bro. Nelson O’Donnell officiating. Burial will follow in the Amos-Richardson Cemetery in Estill County. Visitation will be from 4:00 – 8:00 P.M. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Austin Ryan Stewart
Austin Ryan Stewart, 21 of Mt. Vernon, departed this life on Sunday, July 23rd, 2017. Austin was born on September 26th, 1995 in Somerset, KY to Ricky Keith Smith & Tamatha Lynn Stewart.
He had worked in Berea at Hitachi and attended Flat Rock Baptist Church. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, playing and caring for his beagle Ellie, racing, and most of all loving his family.
Those left to celebrate his life are: his fiancé, Adrianna Reams; their two unborn twins; his parents Ricky Smith & Tamatha Stewart; his brother Joshua Neil Smith; his paternal grandparents, James (Bernice) Smith; special people Danny (Susan) Reams; his maternal grandmother, Joyce Stewart; his Aunts Sandra (Shane) Fain, Carmen (James) Renner & Tonya (Tim) Wyatt; his Uncles, Garrett (Gail) Stewart, Danny W. Smith, Roger Smith & Margie, Kenneth Cole, Darren (Robin) Cole, and Gary (Crissy) Cole; his nephew Jamason Ray Keith Smith; a special cousin Josh Renner; his niece Anna Brooklyn Smith; many special cousins; as well as many friends.
Austin was preceded in death by his brother Eric Keith Smith, and Maternal grandparents Corey Stewart & Irene Falin Stewart.

Millie Brooks, age 72, of Arthur Road in Monticello passed away Monday, July 24, 2017, after a long illness. She was born March 17, 1945 in Owsley County and was the daughter of the late Abner and Ollie Mae Beard Riley.
She was a retired nurse and had lived in Madison County most of her life.
She is survived by Her husband Paul Brooks, 2 Daughters Rhonda Smith & husband, Mitchell, Jennifer Kelley & husband, Bill both of Madison Co., 2 Sons Sam Riley of Illinois, Scott Riley & wife, Courtney of Madison Co., 1 Step-son Joseph Brooks of Florida, Daughter-in-law Connie Riley of Clark Co. and 18 Grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by 1 son, David Riley.
