Trudy Fields Cates, 71, of Berea died at U.K. Medical Center in Lexington Sunday, June 4, 2017 following a short illness. She was born in Big Branch, KY in Perry County on October 8, 1945 and had been a resident of Berea most of her life.
She was a homemaker and attended Owsley Fork Baptist Church. She was gifted with the ability to strike up a conversation with anyone, spend 3 hours talking with them and became a friend for life. She enjoyed her flowers and was known to many for sending Christian poetry booklets every Christmas.
Survivors include her husband George Cates; 2 sons, Rick Everett Fields (Susan) and Jackie Shannon Cates (Rebecca); 5 siblings Earl Fields (Janette), Glenis Fields (Brenda), Ray Dean Fields (Kimberley), Rita Adams (Boyd) and JoEtta Goodrich (George); 3 grandchildren, Stephanie, Heather and Laurel; 6 great-grandchildren, Brooklyn, Van Wyatt, Nicholas, Brian, Alison and Aubree.
She was preceded in death by her parents Birchel and Chapel Pratt Fields; 5 siblings, Coman, Gene, Marlin and Glen Fields and Linda Allen.
Funeral Service 11:00 am, Thursday, June 8th 2017 at Reppert Funeral Home with Pastor Danny Robbins officiating. Burial will follow in the Cates Cemetery. Visitation 6:00 – 9:00 pm Wednesday June 7, 2017 at the Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be: Brad Hylton, Ray Dean Fields, Glenis Fields, Donnie Hayes, Joe Gordon and Harold Ray Combs.
