Nick Carpenter addressed the Berea City Council Tuesday to raise awareness about Autistic Spectrum Disorder. Mayor Steve Connelly and council members praised Carpenter for his presentation after the mayor gave him a proclamation declaring April Autism Awareness Month. The proclamation further recognized Carpenter and his mother, Virginia Bland, for their continuing work to provide information and support to those affected by autism. The measure urges local residents to become educated about autism and to create a better community for individuals who live with the condition. In his remarks, Carpenter commended the city’s efforts to serve Berea’s special needs community in its staging of various Parks and Recreation programs. He expressed hope those events will continue.
