I am so very thankful and excited to have been part of the first ever baptism service at the Madison County Detention Center tonight.

We have been ministering there for over 3 years and we have seen many men come to Christ during that time, but tonight was such a spirit filled service as 8 men went into the baptismal pool (watering trough) and followed their profession of faith in Christ with obedience to baptism.

I cannot say Thank you often enough to Jailer Doug Thomas, who from day one after he took office has been so very cooperative in facilitating this ministry, the Deputy Jailers have been wonderful as they have always sought to help us further this ministry. Even tonight there were Deputies who volunteered their time so that there was no extra personnel cost to the County.

Tonight our County Judge Executive Reagan Taylor came and witnessed this historic day in Madison County’s history, I am thankful for our Judges desire to make our County a better place to live.

I want to give a big shout out to the Tractor Supply store in Berea for allowing us to use the livestock watering trough to baptize these 8 men in. I am also certainly Thankful for my ministry partners, Larry Freeman and Jimmy Fritz of Bethel Baptist Church and Pastor Greg Lakes of the Pilot Knob Baptist Church, their faithfulness and commitment to this ministry is amazing!

  1. Doug is a fine jailer but even better person. He cares for ever person he meets and treats ever one the he wants to be treated.

  2. Thank you Jesus for turning lives around even in jail. My life was turned around over 20 years ago at MCDC with Pastor Terry King coming in having church with the women that were incarcerated. My life has never been the same.Doug Thomas is allowing change to happen inside jail & inside of people’s life.I Thank God for Doug & Staff.

  3. What a wonderful thing to hear about. If this were happening in more prisons there would be a lot more people coming out of prison into a whole new life. Even those who might be lifers they are still more free than many people on the outside.

  4. Who is the man that was in tub getting Baptist?? Was his last name Carrier or Gill ? Cause he looks like a Carrier.
