Aline Asher age 88 of Corbin, passed away Friday June 26, 2015 at Baptist Health in Corbin. Aline was born in Fixer, Kentucky to the late Leonard and Chloe Gabbard Tackett.
She retired from Lockheed Martin in California as an inspector.
She was preceded in death by one sister Polly.
She is survived by her husband of almost 67 years Bige Asher, one step-son Don Henry of Ohio, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 1 pm Monday June 29, 2015 at Lakes Funeral Home, Berea. Burial will follow in the Berea Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11 am until time of services at the funeral home.
Cecil Bert Gordon
Cecil Bert Gordon, 98, passed away peacefully on June 4, 2015 at Kenwood Health and Rehabilitation Center in Richmond following a brief illness. He was born on December 14, 1916, in Blackey, Ky., to the late John Will Gordon and Lily Duff Gordon.
Cecil grew up in Blackey and Morehead, Ky., before residing with his older sister, Maudella Berry. He graduated from Mayslick High School, Mayslick, Ky., in 1935. After high school he attended Morehead State Teacher’s College for two years before transferring to the University of Kentucky where he received a Bachelor of Science in Vocational Agriculture.
Following his university studies he accepted an agriculture teaching position at Center Hill High School in Center Hill, Ky., and then at Simon Kenton High School in Walton, Ky.. From there he moved to North Middletown, Ky., to serve as head instructor of Vocational Agriculture at North Middletown High School. These were war years in the United States and to assist farm families in North Middleton, Cecil refurbished and operated the Community Cannery for canning of local produce. In addition to high school students he taught Vocational Agriculture classes for returning veterans of World War II.
He retired from teaching after ten years to operate a feed, seed supply store in North Middletown. He owned and managed Southern States Cooperative for 44 years serving farmers in Bourbon County, Ky.. He served two terms as President of Bourbon County Farm Bureau, was a Life Member of Odd Fellows Lodge, and a Life Member of UK Alumni Association. He served as President of the North Middletown PTA where he received a Life Membership.
He was a loyal UK basketball fan and an avid fisherman. One of his greatest joys was his fifty year membership of the North Middletown Christian Church where he served as Deacon, Elder, and Administrative Board Chairman for three different terms.
Cecil married his beloved high school sweetheart, Margaret Huber Gordon on September 30, 1938, in Richmond. They were happily married for nearly 77 years making their home in North Middletown for 50 years before moving to Richmond in 1992.
Cecil was preceded in death by his parents, John and Lily Gordon; siblings, Maudella Berry, John Gordon, Edith Gordon Bach, Ann Gordon Huber, Nell Gordon Huff, and May Gordon; his oldest son, Charles Allan Gordon; grand daughters, Susan Tutt Gordon and Laura Leigh Gordon Vockery.
He is survived by his wife, Margaret Huber Gordon. of Richmond; daughter, Martha Gordon Rice (William), of Ashland, Ky., and son, Dr John Michael Gordon (Jane), of Richmond, daughter-in-law, Jeanne Westfall Gordon, of Paris, Ky.; sister, Lillian Gordon Ethridge, of California; grandchildren, Lisa Gordon Herrington, Christopher Allan Gordon, Clark Allan Gordon, Don Robin Gordon, Sara Rice Argenta, John Martin Rice, John Chadwick Gordon, Carey Gordon Christian; great-grandchildren, Jake McCloud, Ian Gordon, Lucy Gordon, Emily Gordon, McKayla Gordon, Ryan Gordon, Cady Gordon, Mackenzie Gordon, Austin Gordon, Riley Gordon, Will Rice, Abby Argenta, Sam Argenta, Luke Argenta, Caroline Christian and Natalie Christian; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at 11 a.m. on June 30, 2015, at First Christian Church, Richmond, with a bereavement luncheon to follow. A family graveside service was held on June 6, 2015, at North Middletown Cemetery, North Middletown, Ky. The family will greet visitors and friends prior to the service and during the lunch hour.

Ronald Eugene Frye
Ronald Eugene Frye, 200 Walnut Hill Dr., Richmond, KY, born in Punxsutawney, PA in 1933, passed away on Thursday, June 18th, 2015, after a lengthy illness.
He was a retired Program Analyst at I.B.M. and he was a member of The White Oak Pond Christian Church. Ronald was a veteran of the United States Air Force.
A dedicated and loving husband and father, he was preceded in death by his wife, Inez C. Frye in 2001, and is survived by his three sons; Gregory P. Frye of Colorado, Robert A. Frye of Alpharetta, Georgia, and Randall E. Frye of Sevierville, TN; and by his three grandchildren September Hall of Richmond, KY, Garrett Frye of Kansas City, MO, and Kari Frye of Berea, KY.
Funeral services will be conducted on 10:00 a.m. Thursday, June 25, 2015 at the Oldham, Roberts & Powell Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Richmond Cemetery. Visitation will be on Wednesday, June 24, 2015 from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Funeral Home.
Kenneth “Kenny” Miller age 63 of Prospect Street, died Wednesday June 25, 2015 at his home. Kenny was born in Rising Sun, Indiana to Lola Tinsley Miller and the late Rodie Miller.
He retired from the state of Kentucky.
In addition to his father he was also preceded in death by one sister Kerri Self.
He is survived by his wife Debbie Brock Miller, his mother Lola Miller, his children Christina Rodgers, Tonya (John) Smith and Kenny (Angie) Miller II, siblings Joyce Mae Woodruff, Shirley Kirby, David Miller, Frankie Miller, Carl Miller and Gary Miller, half-sister Joyce Kathleen Miller, four grandchildren Kendra Hussong, Brandon Miller, Madison Miller, Jared Rodgers and two great grandchildren Emily Grace Isaacs and Leland Miller.
Funeral services will be 1 pm Tuesday June 30, 2015 at Lakes Funeral Home Berea. Entombment will follow in the Berea Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday from 11am-1pm at the funeral home.
Wilford A. Bladen
Wilford A. Bladen, 90, of Richmond, passed away Saturday, June 20, 2015, at the Hospice Compassionate Care Center of Richmond. He was born February 18, 1925, in Madison, Indiana, to Lawrence Allen and Elsie Spivey Bladen, both of whom preceded him in death.
He was a retired U. S. Army Colonel and a veteran of W W II serving in North Africa and the European theater. He was Professor Emeritus at the University of Kentucky and had received the Great Teacher Award in 1990. Col. Bladen had many publications including the Geography of Kentucky.
He is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Ann Elizabeth Mitchell Bladen of Richmond and a daughter, Susan (Mrs. Kevin Reed).
There will be no public services.

Kenneth Elwood Johns
Kenneth Elwood Johns, 65, passed away on June 20, 2015 at Hospice Compassionate Care Center in Richmond. Kenneth was born on June 18, 1950 in Richmond, and was the son of Adam and Iva Lee Kelly Johns, both of whom preceded him in death.
He was a plant manager at Coca-Cola in Lexington for over 20 years. He liked horseracing, and enjoyed going to the Red Mile and Keeneland. He enjoyed Facebook.
Survivors include: his wife, Linda Rose Cheeks Johns, of Richmond; one son, Shelby Scott Winkler (Tisha), of Berea; one daughter, Brandy Michelle Artley (Brian), of Berea; seven grandchildren, Chasity Winkler, Kara Parker, Bethany Winkler, Meghan Winkler, Jacob Artley, Autumn Winkler, and Kaylee Artley; one great grandchild, Makenna Winkler; two brothers, James Johns (Dorothy) and Robert E. Johns (Thelma), both of Richmond; two sisters, Wilma Young and Linda Rose, both of Richmond; and a special dog, Corky.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by: three brothers, Mason Foster, Norman Foster, and Michael Johns, as well as one sister, Mary Helen Ray.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, June 26, 2015 at Oldham, Roberts & Powell Funeral Home with Bro. Owen Moody officiating. Burial will follow at Flatwoods Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00 – 9:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 25, 2015 at the funeral home.

Nancy Jane Wilkinson Long, 66 passed away on Saturday, June 20, 2015 at Hospice Compassionate Care Center in Richmond. Nancy was born in Richmond on September 17, 1948 to Edwin Holmes Wilkinson and Marion Douglas Wilkinson, both of whom preceded her in death.
She was a data specialist in the Career and Co-op Services office at Eastern Kentucky University. Nancy received her Bachelor’s degree in social work form Eastern Kentucky University and her Masters of Divinity from Lexington Theological Seminary. She formerly served as Associate Minister at White Oak Pond Church and as the Director of Christian Education at First Christian Church in Richmond. She had been a member of Open Concern Board for many years. Nancy loved serving in her church where she was the coordinator for the Children’s Worship and Wonder Program. She was a leader of Vacation Bible School and often planned special worship services.
Survivors include: one daughter, Leslie (Donnie) Powell; one sister, Susan (Benny) Whittaker; one grandson, Logan Douglas Powell; three step-grandchildren, Jacob and Clinton Powell, Kristyn Powell Moore; one step-great-grandson, Hunter Adam Moore; one aunt, Helen Buchanan; and five nieces and nephews, Leigh Sorrell, Chris Whittaker, Laura Randolph, Patrick Wilkinson, and Mark Wilkinson.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William Leslie Long, and a brother, Douglas Holmes Wilkinson.
Funeral services for Nancy Long will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 25, 2015 at First Christian Church, with Dr. Glenn Birkett and Dr. Robert Vickers officiating. Visitation will be from 5:00- 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 24, 2015 at First Christian Church.

Ronald Earl “Ronnie” Bryant Sr. 73 of Richmond, passed away Monday, June 22, 2015 at his home. Mr. Bryant was born on April 16, 1942 in Madison County to the late Sid and Myrtle Powell Bryant.
He retired from the City of Richmond Parks and Recreation Department. He enjoyed fishing and was a member of the Gloryland Baptist Church.
Survivors include: his wife, Mae Bryant; two sons, Ronnie E. Bryant, Jr., (Rita Young) and Donald W. Bryant (Cathy Wilson); two brothers, Glyndon Bryant (Jerri) and Odell Berry (Jeanie); one sister, Betty Bowlin (Bill); brother in laws, Ernie Walters and Jody Walters (Sissy); as well as a host of other family and friends..

Matthew Richard Tate McHargue, 39, passed away Monday, June 22, 2015 at the Hospice Care Plus-Compassionate Care Center in Richmond. He was born on March 1, 1976, the son of Richard and Paula Tate McHargue.
He worked as a surveyor and was a graduate of Madison Central High School. He loved to hunt and fish.
Survivors include his parents: Richard and Paula Tate McHargue; one son: Matthew James Tate McHargue; a special friend and companion: Bande Gilbert as well as several aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives and friends.

Gertrude Bales Leadingham
Mrs. Gertrude Bales Leadingham, age 84 of Mt. Vernon and formerly of Richmond, died Tuesday, June 23, 2015 at the Rockcastle Health and Rehabilitation Center in Brodhead. She was born April 16, 1931, the daughter of John and Clara Gillium Anderson.
She was a retired waitress and sales person for Jerry’s and a member of Livingston Baptist Church.
Mrs. Leadingham is survived by: one step-son: Ronnie Bales; two daughters: Sue and Ralph Allen and Linda Newcomb both of Mt. Vernon; five grandchildren: Dwayne Newcomb, Terry Newcomb, Darren Allen, Susan Wagers and Shane Newcomb and twelve great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Leadingham was preceded in death by her first husband: Gilbert Bales and her last husband: Elmer Leadingham; one brother: Clayton Anderson; two sisters: Pauline Poynter and Violet Banning and one step-son: Ronnie Leadingham.
Visitation will be Thursday, June 25, 2015 6-9 PM Dowell & Martin Funeral Home, Funeral service will be Friday, June 26, 2015 1 PM at the Funeral Home. Interment will follow at the Cresthaven Memorial Cemetery.

Sue Watson Case
Sue Watson Case, age 73, of Elm Street in Ravenna passed away Saturday, June 20, 2015, at the Compassionate Care Center following a battle with cancer. She was born October 24, 1941 in Estill County and was the daughter of the late Olga Watson and Ovalene Stamper Pendergest.
She was a former nurse’s aide in the home healthcare industry and had lived in Estill County all of her life. She was a member of the Waco Nazarene Church and also a member of the Red Hat Society.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Truman Tearl Case.
She is survived by: 3 Daughters: Trulena Tate & husband, Mike of Estill Co. Regina Case-Rupert & husband, Angus of Pensacola, FL. Marina Prewitt & husband, Rick of Estill Co. 6 Sisters: Frances Friend , Peggy Patrick, Carolyn Hall & husband, Jim, Stella Gray, Dorita Marcum, Bernie Abney & husband, Junebug all of Estill Co. and 1 Brother: Joe Pendergest of Estill Co.

Alice Reece was born April 23, 1948 in Jackson County and departed this life Sunday, June 21, 2015 at the Compassionate Care Center in Richmond, being 67 years of age. She was the daughter of the late Lewis & Aggie (Spencer) Harrison.
Alice is survived by three daughters, Pam Henry and husband Larry of Berea, Kathryn Holden and husband Jim of Georgia and Johnna Short and husband Scott of Berea. She is also survived by a sister, Debbie Collins of Sand Gap and by three brothers, Dewey Harrison of Sand Gap, Doug Harrison of Corbin and Jimmy Partin of Lexington. Alice was blessed with four grandchildren, Robyn Karrey and husband Daniel, Bailee Reece, Amber Short & Kenton Short all of Berea.
In addition to her parents, Alice was preceded in death by three siblings, Yvonne Ross, Curtis Harrison and Donnie Harrison.
Alice was a member of the Light House Baptist Church in Berea.

Visitation was from 5:00PM-9:00PM Tuesday, June 23, 2015 at the Church. Lakes Funeral Home in McKee was in charge of arrangements.

Berlin Lainhart was born June 5, 1931 in Estill County and departed this life Saturday, June 20, 2015 at St. Joseph Hospital in Berea, being 84 years of age. He was the son of the late John & Bessie (Marcum) Lainhart.
Berlin is survived by seven children, Randall Lainhart, Sadie Huff and Nadina Croucher all of McKee, Randy Lainhart, McCoy Lainhart, Rosie Adkins and Debra Lainhart all of Sand Gap. He was blessed with eleven grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Berlin was also preceded in death by his wife, Clara (Carpenter) Lainhart.
Berlin was of the Holiness Faith.
Funeral service was held 2:00PM Wednesday, June 24, 2015 at Lakes Funeral Home McKee with Bro. Randall Lainhart officiating. Burial followed in the Clara Rose Cemetery. Visitation was at 6:00PM Tuesday, June 23, 2015 at the Funeral Home.
