Berea Police Report June 16, 2015

Shoplifting/Fleeing and Evading: On 06/16/2015 Officers were called to the intersection of Prince Royal Drive and Highway 21 West in reference to a collision. A witness observed a subject running away from the collision scene. When Officers arrived they located a female hiding in a field behind Speedway. The subject ran away as Officers approached and they chased her for a short distance. Once they caught up with her she was uncooperative and would not comply with their commands. She advised them that she had smoked Marijuana laced with crystal meth a few hours earlier. After she was taken into custody they learned that the subject had shoplifted from Walmart. Store employees stated that she concealed merchandise in her purse totaling $100.84.

Officers arrested 26 year old Chasity Thomas of Waco KY and charged her with the following…

-Theft By Unlawful Taking Shoplifting
-Leaving the Scene of an Accident
-Fleeing or Evading Police 2nd Degree
-Resisting Arrest
-Failure to Maintain Insurance
-Public Intoxication

DUI/Wanton Endangerment: On 06/13/2015 an Officer observed a vehicle disregard a traffic light on Chestnut Street. A traffic stop was conducted and the Officer observed empty beer bottles in the vehicle. The driver had a strong odor of alcohol, as well as slurred speech. The subject also had his juvenile son in the passenger seat of the vehicle.

Officers arrested 38 year old Jose Tzanahua-Choncoa of Bronston KY and charged him with the following…

-Operating A Motor Vehicle Under the Influence 1st Offense
-No Operators License
-Wanton Endangerment 2nd Degree
-Careless Driving
-Disregarding A Traffic Control Device

Burglary: On 06/08/2015 Officers were called to Sticks and Stones in reference to a theft. The victim reported that a storage building was broken into and several items were taken. Estimated Loss: $1,080.00.

Theft: On 06/09/2015 Officers were called to the Berea Pool in reference to a theft. Two separate victims reported that windows on their vehicles were broken out and items were stolen. Estimated Loss: $211.00.

Theft: On 06/10/2015 Officers met with a victim who reported that items were stolen from inside of her vehicle. She stated that she visited several places in town and doesn’t know where it happened. Estimated Loss: $159.00.

Theft: On 06/11/2015 Officers were called to GT Construction in reference to a theft. The victim reported that six batteries were stolen from dump trucks on the lot. Estimated Loss: $1,400.00.
