Robert Leeman Waddles
Robert Leeman Waddles age 46, husband of Jennifer Waddles, died Dec. 5, 2014 in Chicago IL. Rob was born in Louisville to Paul and the Late Oneida Singleton Waddles.
He was baptized at the Cedar Creek Baptist church in Louisville, he grew up in Berea KY and graduated from Berea Community High School, he attended Berea College and earned his BA in English and his MA at EKU and had attended Westminster Choir College where he had the opportunity to sing at Carnegie Hall.
Rob loved music, cooking , and travel. He lived with Jennifer in Berea, Atlanta, Lexington, Toronto, and Chicago and made friends easily everywhere he went.
Rob is survived by his wife of 21 years Jennifer Conroy Waddles his father Paul (Darlene) Waddles, his sister Paula (Steve) Davis, and his nieces and nephews Hillary (Cody) Shepherd, Zach (Sydney) Davis, Hayley Davis, Zeb Davis, Hannah Davis and great niece Haven Shepherd.
Visitation for Rob will be Thursday Dec. 11, 2014 from 5-8 pm at Lakes Funeral Home, with funeral services starting at 8 pm with Rev. Kevin Slemp officiating. Private burial will be in the Thacker Family Cemetery in Hindman KY.
In lieu of flowers donations in memory of Rob can be made to the American Cancer Society.
Kale Parks Conner
Rev. Kale Parks Conner 95 of Berea, passed away Monday December 8, 2014 at the Berea Health Care Center. Kale was born in Madison County to the late Garley and Sallie Curry Conner.
He was a member of Middletown Baptist Church and a WWII U.S. Army veteran. He was a skilled wood craftsman and Southern Baptist minister. He worked for several years with the Baptist State Mission Board of Kentucky doing Mountain Mission work in Eastern Kentucky.
He is survived by his loving wife of 70 years Beth H. Conner, his two daughters Peggy (Rev. Bill) Woods of Berea and Sarah (Earl) Botkin of Smithfield, NC, one sister Macie Eades of Richmond, four brothers Leo, William “Bill”, Garley “Slick” Conner of Richmond and Raymond Conner of Walton, KY, three grandchildren Matthew (Britta) Woods, Mark (Sarah) Woods of Berea and Valerie Botkin of SC, eight great grandchildren Trevor, Hailey, Emily, Ethan, Eli and Evan Woods of Berea, Trey and Cole Stewart of SC.
In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by a sister Mary Elizabeth Wall and two brothers Ernest and Joe Conner.
Funeral services will be 11am Saturday December 13, 2014 at Lakes Funeral Home in Berea with Rev. Kenny Davis officiating. Burial will follow in the Berea Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday evening from 6-9 pm at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Trevor, Ethan, Eli and Evan Woods, Trey and Cole Stewart. Honorary bearers will be Bill, Matthew, Mark, Hailey and Emily Woods and Earl Botkin.

Henry Harold Knuckles
Henry Harold Knuckles, age 72, passed Thursday, December 11, 2014 at Richmond Health and Rebab.-Madison in Richmond. He was born in Berea to the late Joe Elsie and Lucy Evelyn Coffee Knuckles.
Mr. Knuckles was a self-employed mechanic, a member of the Pentecostal faith, and he loved to farm, fish and his Pekinese dogs.
Mr. Knuckles is survived by: his daughters: Donna Johnson of Somerville, Ohio, Teresa Brandenburg of Berea, Dianne Slaughter of McKee, Evelyn Mae Knuckles of Richmond; his son: Harold Douglas Knuckles Marcum of McKee; his sisters: Marie Bowman and Geraldine Sturgill of Berea, Brenda Sue Hanaway of Waco, Sharon Bowman of Sand Gap, Ky.; his brother: Joe “Dank” Knuckles of Berea. 7 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren also survive.
Mr. Knuckles was preceded in death by two sisters,Louise Knuckles Williams and Mafree Knuckles and one brother Hershel Knuckles.
Funeral services for Mr. Knuckles will be 1:00 p.m. Sunday at the Davis & Powell Funeral Home with Bro. John Gross officiating. Burial will follow in the Opal Knuckles Cemetery in Clover Bottom. Visitation will be from 6-9 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

Pamela Ann Powell
Pamela Ann Powell, 63, of Richmond, passed away Wednesday, December 10, 2014, at the University of Kentucky Hospital in Lexington. She was born February 28, 1951, in Boyle County to Stuart and Jo Ann Powell.
Pamela taught French, Spanish and English for 27 years in Anderson, Boyle and Rockcastle counties as well as at Model Laboratory School in Richmond. After retiring from teaching, she was honored by Who’s Who Among American Teachers for her excellence in teaching.
She was a giving person, always volunteering her time and helping others. Pam was a volunteer for the Richmond Area Arts Council, a volunteer and supporter of the Humane Society of Richmond and active in the Kentucky Retired Teachers Association.
One of her favorite hobbies was baking, and she turned her kitchen into a virtual bakery for many receptions and events conducted by the Richmond Area Arts Council, the Madison County Retired Teachers Association and the First Christian Church, where she served on the hospitality committee. Pam loved her church, the First Christian Church of Richmond, and was an integral part of its growth.
Along with her parents, Stuart and Jo Ann Powell, Pam is survived by a sister, Patti Powell and her husband Vince DiMartino of Danville, and a special cat, Trixie.
Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Monday, December 15, 2014, at the First Christian Church of Richmond with Dr. Glenn Birkett and Dr. Bob Vickers officiating. Burial will be in Bellevue Cemetery of Danville. Visitation will be 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday, December 14, 2014, at Preston Pruitt Spurlin Funeral Home in Danville and 9 to 11 a.m. Monday at First Christian Church in Richmond.

Anthony L. Martin 38 Former native of Richmond, KY and Son of Brenda (James) Clay and Michael Mayfield died unexpectedly at his residence in Newport, Kentucky.

Sammie C. Kennedy
Sammie C. Kennedy (nee Huguely) passed away December 4, 2014 at the age of 70.
Sammie retired in 1997 after 27 years of teaching for the Cincinnati Public Schools.
She leaves numerous friends and family members to cherish her memory including her two daughters, Erin & Erika Kennedy; her mother, Madge Huguely of Richmond, KY; her sisters Margaret Moran, Elizabeth Williams and Julia Huguely; and her brothers Lucian Huguely, Sr., John Huguely and Gary Huguely.
Sammie’s life will be celebrated on Saturday, December 13, 2014 at Gaines United Methodist Church, 5707 Madison Rd in Cincinnati. The visitation is at 11 am and the service will begin at 12 noon.

Tina L. Burton
Tina L. Burton, 38, died Friday, Dec. 9, 2014, in St. Vincent Hospital of Indianapolis Ind. Tina was born May 29, 1976, and was a lifelong Richmond resident.
She is survived by: two children, Joshua Anglin and Joseph Burton; two brothers, David (Teresa) and Ronnie Bowman; one sister, Margaret Perkins (Kevin); one nephew, Trevor Sanders; four nieces, Elizabeth Bowman, Megan Perkins, Emily and Clara Bowman; one great-nephew, Easton Merdia and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
She is preceded in death by her grandparents, Roscoe and Josephine Daniel, and her parents, Cleatus Burton and Phyllis Bowman.
Services will conducted at 2 p.m., Friday, December 12, 2014, at the Forest Hill Cemetery in Moores Hill, Ind.
Noah Michael Asher
Noah Michael “Mike” Asher age 64 passed away on December 9, 2014. Mike was born in Oneida, Kentucky to Howard Asher and the late Beulah Hibbard Asher.
He is survived by his wife Frances Baker Asher, three sons Michael David (Ann) Asher, Steven Howard Asher and Alan Douglas Asher, grandchildren Charles Robert, Caroline Ray and Marissa Dawn Asher, his father Howard Asher, his sister Sandra (Jay) Hammock, special aunt Grace Burns and many special cousins.
Mike was a social worker in the Berea office and State residential facilities for 27 years. He also worked with the Family Court in Madison and Clark Counties for many years as a court specialist. He also coached football and girls softball at Berea Community School for several years. He was an Eagle Scout and very active with the Boy Scouts that started in his childhood and continued for many years. He was a faithful U.K. basketball and football fan who would get very emotional during a closely scored game.
He was the strength in their family and will be so greatly missed by his close knit family and many friends.
Funeral services will be 1pm Monday December 15, 2014 at Lakes Funeral Home with Rev. Ron Lutes officiating. Entombment will follow in Berea Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday evening from 6-9 pm at Lakes Funeral Home.
Orville F. Boes
Orville F. Boes, of Berea, KY, died Saturday, December 6, 2014. He was born in Louisville, KY and was a decorated WW II veteran of the US Army Air Corps.
He was a graduate of Louisville Male High School, Georgetown College, and the University of Kentucky. He taught at Berea College for 40 years. In 1965 he was appointed by the US Dept. for International Aid to establish a department of business at Nyatsime College, near Salisbury Rhodesia. In 1971 he was one of 35 college professors selected by the AACTE to help the Job Corps improve their teaching methods. In 1982 he received the Outstanding Business Teacher Award from the KBEA. In 1987 he was a visiting professor at several colleges in Helsinki, Finland.
Professor Boes also taught Sunday School and was a Baptist Deacon. He had a love for God, family, country, his students, model railroading and all railroads.
He is survived by his loving wife Anne Boes, three children, Sheryl (Jim) Sutton, Laura Boes, Mark Boes, and a special daughter Christina Baum, three grandchildren and a great grandson.
Visitation will be Tuesday, Dec. 9, from 6-8 pm at Berea Baptist Church and the funeral service will be Wednesday, Dec. 10 at 11 am at the church with Rev. John Ward officiating. Burial at Berea Cemetery.

Robert Craig Dickerson
Robert “Cowboy” Craig Dickerson, 56 of Berea, Kentucky passed away suddenly and went to be with the Lord on Saturday December 6, 2014 in New Hampshire.
Robert had a philosophy in his life to work hard and play hard. He was a major fan of NASCAR, enjoyed playing pool and ultimately loved being around those who loved him most especially his grandchildren. They were his pride and joy.
Robert was preceded in death by his mother Linda Edwards and his favorite uncle Charles Dickerson.
Robert is survived by the love of his life Cynthia Lynn Fetty his father Robert L Dickerson, his brother Michael Dickerson and his wife Barbara Dickerson, his sister Alisa Duncan and her husband Scott Duncan as well as several neices and nephews. He was also survived by children, Vickie & Troy Chastine, Michael &Tara McMillin, Amy & Jeff Harmon, Kristine & Ryan Griffin, Michael & Sydney Fetty, Forest Fetty JR and Victoria Fetty. Also his grandchildren, Brenden Dickerson, Tyler, Sean & William Culpepper and Sondra Mills, Hannah, Naomi,Isaac and Rebekah McMillin, Austin, Danielle and Payne Harmon, Landon & Logan Griffin, Grayson Brumfield and Holden Wiseman, and Braydon Fetty and several Great Grandchildren as well. Robert will be missed terribly by those who knew and loved him.

Freddie Alan Martin
Freddie Alan Martin, age 65, died Friday, December 12, 2014 at St. Joseph East Hospital in Lexington. He was born in Berea to the late Isaac Earl and Beulah Lee Lakes Martin.
Freddie was the owner/operator of Martin Construction and he was a member of Liberty Avenue Full Gospel Church.
He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Brenda Jean Martin; 3 daughters: Kathy (Dwight) Pingleton of Crab Orchard, Lisa Lakes (Tony Archer) of Crab Orchard, Teresa (Greg) Rogers of Berea; 5 grandchildren: Heather (Kenny) Cornelius, Kayla (Eddie) Morgan, LaRussa Lakes, Justin (Jamie) Rogers, Amanda (Troy) VanWinkle. 7 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Dwight Glyndon Martin.

Chalmer Mullins, age 67 of Berea, formerly of Pikeville, died Thursday at Berea Health Care. He was born in Pikeville to the late Alex and Alpha Price Mullins. He was a coal miner and he loved to hunt and fish.
He is survived by his wife: Geneva James Mullins of Berea; his daughter: Stacy (Mofatt) Hillard of Berea; his son: Jason Mullins (Angela Walters) of Richmond; his brothers: Jeff Mullins, Salt Lick, Ky., and Will Mullins of West Liberty, Ky.; sisters: Lori Mullins and Opal Adkins of West Virginia. 5 grandchildren, Matthew and Logan Hillard, Brady, Joshua and Lacy Mullins also survive.

Jemima Gail Barker, 67, of Richmond, died Friday, December 12, 2014, at the Richmond Health & Rehab Complex – Kenwood. She was born August 4, 1947, in Estill County to Lloyd and Edith Rose, both of whom preceded her in death.
She was a homemaker, a caregiver and she was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include her companion of 24 years, Roland Adams of Richmond; one sister, Hallie Estelle Rose Rohr of Lexington; one brother, Chester Landon Rose of Richmond; two nieces, Sandy Owen and Lisa Rose; three nephews, Michael Rose, Jim Rohr II and David Rohr.

Virginia Lee McQueary King of Richmond died Sunday, December 14, 2014, at the home of her daughter.
She was born July 27, 1921, in Madison County. She was preceded in death by her parents, James William and Lillie Cruse McQueary, and was the widow of Albert King, who left this life in 2004.

Tamara Joyce Dunn Mason, 80 of Madison County, died Wednesday, December 10, 2014 at The Terrace Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Berea.
Tamara, a retired On-Air radio personality, was born April 15, 1934, in Detroit Michigan to Harlo James Dunn and Helen Joyce Kern Dunn, both of whom preceded her in death. She was of the Episcopalian faith and the mother of James T. Washington of Richmond.

Mae Thomas McKinney Conner, 84, was born June 19, 1930 and died at her home Saturday, December 6, 2014.
Mae is survived by her husband of 67 years, William O. “Bill” Conner, two sons, Dale (Debbie) Conner of Richmond and Michael (Angela) Conner of Stanford.
She is also survived by three grandsons: Shane (Teah) Conner, Hunter Conner, Corey Conner, and one granddaughter, DeAnna Conner. Mae also had three great grandchildren: Logan Conner, Landen Conner, and Elizabeth Conner.
Other survivors are two sisters: Ann Kidder (special friend, Tulley Cormney) and Dolaine (John) Needham, both of Richmond. Mae is also survived by one aunt: Katherine Taylor Powell of Richmond, plus several nieces and nephews and cousins.
Mae was preceded in death by: her parents Jeptha and Beulah Taylor McKinney, a daughter, Linda Gail Conner, a brother Donald McKinney, a niece Emily Perkins, and a nephew, Stephen Griggs.
Mae was a bookkeeper for Richmond Bottling Works for 49 years. She was a wonderful homemaker, mother, and Nana. She loved to knit, crocket, and read. She loved to go to the cabin at the lake and sit by the fire and read while the men went fishing.
Mae loved her grandchildren dearly and talked about them to anyone that was willing to listen. She had a deep love for the Lord and was a long time member of The First Baptist Church.
Visitation will be held at the Oldham, Roberts, and Powell Funeral Home, Wednesday December 10, 2014 from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m. Funeral services will be held at the First Baptist Church on the Eastern By-Pass at 11a.m. Thursday, December 11, 2014 with interment at the Richmond Cemetery. Pastor Bill Fort will officiate.
Her pallbearers are: Dennis Conner, Jimmy Sewell, Robert David Eades, Duane Perkins, David Cruse, Bill Woods, and Brian Needham. The honorary pallbearers will be her Sunday School Class.

Archie Gibbs, 71, went peacefully to be with the Lord on Friday, December 12, 2014 at the Compassionate Care Center. He was the husband of Linda Tackett Gibbs.

Denver Brown, 73, of Richmond, a Brick Mason and a Veteran of the U. S. Army, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 9, 2014.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Carlos Brown and Leona Whicker Brown Brandenburg; a son, Stanley Brown; five brothers, Johnny Brown, Andy Brown, Bobby Brown, Harold Brandenburg and Darrell Brandenburg.

Kimberlee Paige Burns Sutton, 43, passed away Monday morning, December 8, 2014 at the UK Chandler Medical Center in Lexington. Kim was born on February 2, 1971 in Lexington, the daughter of Phyllis Shouse Burns and the late Bobby Gene Burns.
She was a former O.R. Systems Administrator at the St. Joseph-East Hospital in Lexington. She was a 1989 Graduate of Madison Central High School and was a member of the Red House Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband Steve Sutton; her maternal grandparents: W.C. and Bessie Shouse and her paternal grandparents: Pleas and Mae Burns.
Survivors in addition to her mother include a brother: Robbie L. Burns (Melissa); and one nephew: Nicholas Burns; one niece: Kelsey Burns; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.

Russell Riddell Jr., age 60, of Pea Ridge Road in Irvine passed away Monday, December 8, 2014, at the Marcum & Wallace Memorial Hospital after a long illness. He was born August 4, 1954 in Estill County and was the son of the late Russell and Alberta Underwood Riddell.
He was a carpenter and had lived in Estill County all of his life.
