On Saturday, May 24, Fiona Young-Brown, of Lexington, will sign copies of her cookbook, “A Culinary History of Kentucky: Burgoo, Beer Cheese & Goetta,” from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Kentucky Artisan Center at Berea.

This cookbook is an enjoyable reading and cooking adventure, with recipes highlighted by historical photos and color images of specialty dishes found in famous regional restaurants and locales. Kentucky’s cuisine can be traced back to Cherokee, Irish, Scottish, English and German roots, among others and many of these dishes can’t be found elsewhere. From Burgoo to ramps, Goetta and paw paw’s, to beaten biscuits and frogs, this cookbook has truly fascinating selections.

Young-Brown will be on hand May 24 to talk about her cookbook and sign copies for visitors. Her cookbook is regularly available at the Kentucky Artisan Center at Berea, 200 Artisan Way, just off Interstate 75 at Berea, Exit 77. The center’s exhibits, shopping and travel information areas are open daily, year-round, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., with the cafe open from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Admission is free.
