Nicholas Chaise Kuehne
Nicholas Chaise Kuehne,(infant) born December 6, 2013, entered his eternal home on December 21, 2013 surrounded by his family. During his brief stay, Nicholas touched the hearts and lives of many.
Nicholas is survived by his parents, Johnathan and Ellen (Cheeks) Kuehne of Ironton, Ohio. In addition to his parents, Nicholas is survived by his paternal grandparents, Jerry and Karen Bailey of Kitts Hill, Ohio, and Thomas Kuehne of Ironton, Ohio; his maternal grandparents, Terry and Carol Reeves of Richmond, Ky.; paternal great-grandfather, Jerold Kuehne of Ironton, Ohio; and maternal great grandmother, Corinne Partin of Berea, Ky. He also is survived by Uncle Stephen Kuehne and his wife Elizabeth of Winchester, Ky., and Uncle Jeremy Bailey and his wife Julie of Ironton, Ohio, as well as a host of numerous loved ones.
Nicholas was welcomed into his eternal home by paternal great-grandparents, William and Mae McDonie and Catherine Kuehne as well as maternal great-grandparents Louis Dean and Nancy Asbill Reeves, Carl Lee Swanger, and Neville Cheeks. Also ready to receive Nicholas Chaise into Glory were two very special uncles, Adam Chaise Kuehne and Nicholas Wayne Cheeks.
Services will be December 26, 2013, at Storms Creek Missionary Baptist Church with Pastor Kenny Hurst officiating. Family will be received 10:30-11:30 a.m. and the public 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. with memorial services immediately after. Nicholas will be laid to rest at Woodland Cemetery in Ironton, Ohio.

Sharon Ann Arndt
Sharon Ann Sellards Arndt, 70, of Richmond, passed away Wednesday, December 25, 2013 at Baptist Health – Lexington. She was born December 19, 1943, in Wayne, West Virginia, to Lowell and Doris Webb Sellards, both of whom preceded her in death.
She was a retired executive legal secretary who excelled in her office skills. Her membership in the Sweet Adeline’s Barber Shop singers brought her great enjoyment. Sharon was an accomplished concert pianist and she loved music. She was also very proud of her Baptist heritage and faith.
She is survived by her siblings, Sydney Sue Hayes of Brooks, Kentucky, in Bullitt County; Joseph L. Sellards of Richmond; and Stephen L. Sellards (and wife, Linda) of Richmond. She also leaves several nieces and nephews.
Services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Monday, December 30, 2013, at Oldham, Roberts & Powell Funeral Home with Dr. Floyd Price officiating. Burial will follow in the Richmond Cemetery. Friends will be received after 12 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home.

Dorothy “Dot” White Harkins, of Spring, Texas, formerly of Richmond, passed away Friday, December 27, 2013. She was the widow of Howard F. Harkins, Sr.

Margaret Long Howard, 88, of Sebring, Florida, formerly of Richmond, passed away Saturday. She was the widow of James Howard.

Andrew T. Johnson
Andrew T. Johnson, 88, husband of Bessie Johnson, died Thursday, December 26, 2013, after arrival at Baptist Health-Richmond. Born August 22, 1925, in Coletown, Fayette County, Ky., he was the son of the late Andrew J. and Imogene Johnson.
Mr. Johnson was a lifelong farmer, a member of First Baptist Church, a retiree from Irvin Industries as second-shift supervisor and an avid hunter.
Survivors in addition to his wife include: a daughter, Kathy Johnson Bellfield; a grand-daughter, Tiffany Carol Bellfield; a great-granddaughter Makayla Lee Bellfield, all of Lexington, Ky.; a brother, Rev. Theodore (Alice) Johnson of Louisville, Ky.; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Monday, December 30, at the First Baptist Church, 302 Francis St., Richmond, Ky., with the Rev. Robert Blythe officiating. Burial will follow in Madison County Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be 11 a.m. Monday until the time of service at the church.

Betty Lyen Pryse
Betty Lyen Pryse, 83, of Richmond, the widow of Henry F. Pryse, passed away Saturday, December 28, 2013, at the Hospice Compassionate Care Center of Richmond. She was born January 10, 1930, in Harrodsburg, Kentucky, to Homer T. and Gertrude Burford Lyen, both of whom preceded her in death.
She was a graduate of Harrodsburg High School and received her bachelor’s degree from Transylvania University, where she was a member of Delta Delta Delta sorority. She was a homemaker and had taught at Lancaster High School. Mrs. Pryse was of the Episcopal faith.
She is survived by: one son, Joe F. Pryse and his wife Beth Worell, of Boston, Massachusetts; and two grandchildren, Alex and Julia. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by one son, S/Sgt William (Tom) Pryse (ret.).
A graveside service for Mrs. Pryse will be conducted at noon Monday, December 30, 2013, at the Richmond Cemetery, where interment will follow. There will be no visitation.

Margean McDaniel Combs
Margean McDaniel Combs, age 89, died Thursday, December 26, 2013, at Berea Health Care.
The widow of Edgar Allen Combs, she was a member of the Berea Church of Christ for over 50 years loved to sew and gardening. Mrs. Combs was a native of Livingston, Ky., and was a housewife.
Mrs. Combs is survived by: her sons, Bill (Michelle) Moore of Berea, Alec and Marshall Smith; a daughter, Norma Jean Hill of Newburg, Indiana; her brothers, Earl Moore of Xenia, Ohio, Charles D. Moore of Berea, Wayne Moore of Albuquerque, New Mexico; a sister, Beulah Mae Rosier of Richmond, Indiana; several grandchildren, including Kimberly Moore, Chase Moore, Cody Moore and Caleb Moore.
She was a special aunt to: Kelly Hackworth, Pamela Rourk, Charles Moore Jr., Stephanie Brown, Bernadette Branham and Scott Moore. Several great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews also survive.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by: her parents Thomas Preston Moore and Rosevelt McDaniel Moore; a son, Lewallen Moore; a stepdaughter, Alice Faye Moore; and brothers Virgil, Douglas and Vernon Moore.
Funeral services for Mrs. Combs will be 1 p.m. Tuesday, December 31, 2013, at the Davis & Powell Funeral Home with Bro. Charles Moore officiating. Burial will follow in the Combs Family Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Darrell Edester, 79, of Berea, died Saturday, December 21, 2013 at St. Joseph Berea. He was born August 14, 1934, son of the late William and Mable Azbil Edester, resident of Berea most of his life, retired electronics technician and member of the Kentucky Thumb Pickers.
Survivors include 3 children, Beverly Edester, Keith (Sarah) Edester, Lynn (Jarrett) Downs; 3 siblings, Raymond Edester, Billy Edester, Imogene Johnson; 7 grandchildren, Mackenzie, Eric, Shannon, Brandon, Aaron, Joe, Meghan; 8 great grandchildren, Jalon, Gavin, Nevaeh, Adelynn, Carson, Camyron, Carymon, Cayleb; and his faithful dog companion, Jake. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by 1 son, Jeffery Edester.

Harry Thomas Abney
Harry Thomas “Buddy” Abney, 56, passed away Wednesday, December 25, 2013 after arrival at Baptist Health – Richmond. He was born December 9, 1957, in Winchester, KY, to Clyde and Peggy Byrd Abney.
Buddy was a retired employee of the Proctor & Gamble Company in Lexington. He was the father of Jennifer Abney of Lexington.
Private family graveside services will be conducted at Madison County Memorial Gardens, Richmond.
Yarelis Figueredo Romero
Yarelis Figueredo Romero, 27, died Friday, Dec. 20, 2013, at the UK Medical Center in Lexington from injuries sustained in a recent Madison County auto accident.
Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 29, at Oldham, Roberts & Powell Funeral Home. Funeral and interment will take place later in Matanzas, Cuba.
Shirley Abel went to be with the Lord on December 25, 2013.
Shirley had a sweet spirit and made people feel loved. She showed Christ’s love in everything she did. She loved spending time with family and friends and they will always remember her laughter and smile. Although family and friends will miss her, they rejoice in her home going. Shirley was born in Dayton, Tennessee, to the late John and Mary Ruth Dulaney.
She retired from Parker Seal Company and was a member of Bethel Baptist Church where she was a member of the WMU, choir and on occasion played the piano at the church. She was a member of the Red Hat Society, Wonder Weavers and the Madison County Breast Cancer Support Group.
In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by: her husband, Jack Abel; and two brothers, John and Aubrey Dulaney.
She is survived by: her daughters, Teresa (Rick) Abel Carpenter and Debbie (Greg) Abel Frazier; three brothers, Freeman Dulaney, Floyd Dulaney, David Collins; one sister, Bobbie Helton; five grandchildren, Heather (Todd) Wilson, Derek (Leikka) Carpenter, Logan (Jessica) Frazier, Elizabeth Frazier and Rebekah Frazier. She also leaves behind three great-grandchildren and two great-grandsons expected in 2014.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, December 28, 2013, at Bethel Baptist Church with Rev. Kenny Davis and Bro. Larry David Freeman officiating. Burial will follow in the Madison County Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Friday from 5 to 9 p.m. at Lakes Funeral Home.
Active pallbearers will be Rick Carpenter, Greg Frazier, Derek Carpenter, Logan Frazier, Todd Wilson and Larry Helton.

Verda Tudor Swaner Coy
Verda Tudor Swaner Coy, 93, of Richmond, passed away Wednesday, December 25, 2013, at Telford Terrace in Richmond. She was born April 25, 1920, in Madison County, Kentucky, to Virgil Allen and Florence Griggs Tudor, both of whom preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her first husband, Roy B. Swaner Jr., and her second husband, James T. Coy Jr.
She was a long-time employee (1942-1980) of State Bank & Trust Company of Richmond, retiring as vice president and trust officer. She was a member of First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) and DAR of Boonesborough-Society of Boonesborough.
Survivors include: One brother, Dr. William H. Tudor (Vicki); a nephew, Russell H. Cotton (Betty) of Danville Ky.; seven nieces, Wayne Ann Tudor of Richmond, Ky., Verda Lee Rochford (Jeff) of New York City, N.Y., Dr. Kathy Cotton of Tucson, Ariz., Anne C. Fowler (Guy) of Danville, Ky., Carol T. Thomas (Don) and Cynthia T. Stover (Charles E.), both of Richmond, Lisa T. Middleton (Jeff) of Louisville, Ky.;
Seven great-nieces, Dr. Katherine K. Beiting (Mike) of Crestview Hills, Ky., Jessica F. McCowan (Jeff) and Katie F., both of Danville, Ky., Brook C. Elliott (Chris) of Nicholasville, Ky., Gillian Stover of Richmond, Emily and Sarah Middleton of Louisville.
Eight great-nephews, Russ Cotton of Louisville, Ky., Greg and Hagan Cotton of Danville, Ky., John Kerbaugh of Tucson, Ariz., Phillip and Chris Begley, Todd Meeks, Charles E. Stover III of Richmond, Ky., and several great-great-nieces and nephews;
One stepson, James T. Coy III (Ruth); one stepdaughter, Hays Coy Howard (Neil); four step-grandsons, James T. Coy IV (Julianna) of Richmond, Dr. Samuel Coy (Brook) of Lexington, Dr. Edward Turpin (Yeny) of Huntsville, Ala., John Turpin High Point, N.C., and six step-great-grandsons.
In addition to her parents and husbands, she also was preceded in death by a brother, Charles Allen Tudor; and a sister, Katherine Tudor Cotton (Russell); two nephews, Joe Allen Cotton and Charles Allen Tudor II.
Services for Mrs. Coy will be conducted 7 p.m. Friday, December 27, 2013, at Oldham, Roberts & Powell Funeral Home with Dr. Glenn Birkett and Dr. Robert Vickers officiating. Visitation will be from 5 p.m. until service time Friday at the funeral home. Burial will follow at 11 a.m. on Saturday, December 28, 2013, in the Richmond Cemetery. Nephews and grandsons will serve as pallbearers.

Robert May Tipton
Robert May Tipton, 75, of Richmond, husband of Virginia Falin Tipton, passed away Wednesday, December 25, 2013, at the Hospice Compassionate Care Center of Richmond. He was born November 23, 1938 in Madison County, to Everett and Molly Brock Tipton, both of whom preceded him in death.
Robert was a farmer, a heavy equipment operator and was a member of Tates Creek Baptist Church.
In addition to his wife, Virginia, he is survived by two daughters, Melinda Davidson (Gordon) of Richmond and Sherri Tipton of Winchester; two grandchildren, Brandon (Kayla) Davidson and Michael Davidson; an honorary daughter, Yulanda Ratliff Switzer; three sisters, Helen Bullock, Judy Hall, and Jean Moody; two brothers-in-law, Don Falin and Paul Falin; and several nieces and nephews.
Robert was also preceded in death by one sister Mary Willie Jackson and two brothers, Manford and Vardy Tipton.
Service will be 11:30 a.m. Friday, December 27, 2013, at Tates Creek Baptist Church with Jeff Jackson, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow at Madison County Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until service time on Friday at the church.

Dorothy Evelyn Whitaker Curry
Dorothy Evelyn Whitaker Curry, 96, of Richmond, passed away Saturday, December 21, 2013, at the Hospice Compassionate Care Center of Richmond. She was born October 15, 1917, in Madison County, at Newby, to F.J. and Effie Long Whitaker, both of whom preceded her in death.
She was the widow of Cecil S. Curry. Dorothy was a graduate of Newby High School and a homemaker. Currently, she was a member of Community Christian Church in Richmond and had been a long-time member of Big Hill Christian Church.
Survivors include: her son, Cecil F. Curry (Ann) of Richmond; two granddaughters, Leevelyn McKean and Lori Moberly (Tom), both of Richmond; five great-grandchildren, Michael Moore, Lindsey Moberly, Leslie Moberly, Allison Griggs (Adam) and Chris McKean (Casey); two great-great grandchildren, Peyton and Henry Griggs; one niece, Margaret Long; and one nephew, Orville Whitaker.
In addition to her husband, Cecil, and parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, Walter Whitaker; three sisters, Hattie Whitaker, Florence Long and Gracie Prewitt; and one nephew, Clyde Long.
Funeral services for Dorothy will be conducted 1 p.m. Saturday, December 28, 2013, at Oldham, Roberts & Powell Funeral Home with Chip Dineif and Tim Jones officiating. Burial will follow in the Richmond Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until service time on Saturday.

Patricia Ann Slone
Patricia Ann Slone, 65, passed away Monday, December 23, 2013. She was born June 16, 1948, in Floyd Co., Ky. to the late Willis and Melba Prater Sexton.
She attended Alice Lloyd College, was a graduate of Eastern Kentucky University and attended Tates Creek Baptist Church. Patricia was a retired teacher having taught at Providence Elementary School in Clark Co.
Survivors include her husband, Danny Slone; daughter Carrie Summer (David) Hurd, of Richmond; 2 sisters Roberta (Don) Adkins, Alberta (Jad) Deaton; 4 grandchildren: Austin Perkins, Zachary Hurd, Ian Hurd, Jonathan Hurd; special aunt, Ilean (Charlie) Meador; sister-in-law, Melisa Sexton.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Walter Willis Sexton

Shelby Ray Curry
Shelby Ray Curry, age 82, of Berea, died Monday, December 23, 2013, at the Compassionate Care Center in Richmond. He was born in the Valley View Section of Madison County to the late Russell Pearl and Eunice Ashcraft Curry Perkins.
Ray was a retired superintendent of the Southern Madison Water District and a member of the Berea Baptist Church, where he was a deacon and served on numerous committees. He was a Marine Corps veteran and a member of the Kentucky National Guard. He had also served with the state Public Service Commission.
Ray is survived by: his children, Mark (Brenda) Curry and Regina Gail Jordan, both of Berea; his brothers, Paul Dedrick (Mattie) Curry of Nicholasville, Neville O’Dell (Jan) Curry of Cynthiana; his sisters, Dixie (J.D.) Hamilton, Maxie Reed and Ora Mae Childers, all of Richmond; his grandson, Claighton Curry of Berea; sisters-in-law, Liz Curry and Shirley Curry.
He was preceded in death by: his wife of 57 years, Betty Lou Brockman Curry; two brothers, Franklin Russell and James Arthur Curry; and his stepfather, Tevis “Perk” Perkins.
Funeral services for Ray will be 11 a.m. Saturday at the Berea Baptist Church with the Rev. Kevin Slemp officiating. Burial will follow in the Berea Cemetery with military honors. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at the church. Davis and Powell Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
Pallbearers will be Claighton Curry, Greg Beagle, Mike Brosius, Jay Vaughn, Derek Humfleet, Russell Brockman and Billy Campbell. Honorary Pallbearers will be members of the Baraca Sunday School Class.

Phillis Faye Hoover Edwards, age 58, a resident of the Bluegrass Care and Rehabilitation Center in Lexington passed away Sunday, December 22, 2013, at the Center following a short illness. She was born October 16, 1955 in Clark County and was the daughter of the late Leonard and Nancy Elizabeth Taylor Hoover.
She attended the Baptist Church and had lived in Fayette County most of her life. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill Edwards.
She is survived by: 3 Sisters: Ann Brown of Richmond, Ruby Howard of Carlisle, Barbara Barber of Lexington. 3 Brothers: Bobby Hoover of Georgetown, Tommy Hoover of Garrard Co., Joe Hoover of Arkansas, she also leaves behind several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by 1 sister, Jennie Martin and 2 brothers; Russell and Wayne Hoover.
Graveside services will be conducted Monday, December 23, 12 Noon at the Hoover Cemetery
Bob Abner was born July 2, 1934 in Springfield, Illinois and departed this life Tuesday, December 24, 2013 at The Terrace Nursing & Rehab in Berea, being 79 years of age. He was the son of the late Gilbert & Mae (Thompson) Abner.
Bob is survived by his wife, Pearl (House) Abner of Annville and by two children, Robbie Abner & his wife Tonia of Kerby Knob and Penny Marcum & her husband Darron of Sand Gap. He is also survived by three sisters, Viola Hacker of Michigan, Mamie Baker of Ohio and Lena Rose Coffey of McKee. Bob was blessed with five grandchildren, Bradley Marlow, Natosha Muncy, Mikayla Marcum, Molly Marcum & Trevor Abner; two great grandchildren, Cadience & Brady Muncy and a step granddaughter, Miranda Anglin.
In addition to his parents, Bob was also preceded in death by two daughters, Bernadine Marlow and Christine Abner and by the following brothers and sisters, Herman, Lee, Marcum, Walter & Zethel Abner and Myrtle Ingram.
Besides spending time with his family, Bob also loved coon hunting, gardening and mowing his yard. He was a member of the Egypt Baptist Church.

Dwight Lakes was born November 7, 1952 in Jackson County and departed this life Tuesday, December 24, 2013 at his residence, being 61 years of age. He was the son of the late Curt & Elizabeth (McCowan) Lakes. Dwight was of the Baptist Faith.
Dwight is survived by his daughter, Jessica Shelby and her husband Timothy of Richmond and by a step daughter, Jeannia Felty and her husband Larry of McKee. He is also survived by the following brother and sisters, Elmer, Eugene, Billy, Junior & Conal Lakes and Shirley Hobbs all of McKee, Bernice Gibson of Hamilton, OH, Carol Brewer of Bath County, Edna Gabbard, Gladys Sparks, Jewell Gabbard & Ruby Debrelver all of Indiana. Dwight was blessed with one granddaughter, Allison Elizabeth Shelby of Richmond.
In addition to his parents, Dwight was also preceded in death by the following brothers and sisters, Clyde, Dale, Delver, Florence, Raymond, Aaron, Dennis, Garnett, Ralph, Donnie & Tiny Lakes and Ester McCowan.
