The PSO is now accepting entries for the 2014 Young Artist Concerto Competition. The finals are part of the PSO’s Encore Series Performances and are scheduled for February 2, 2014 at Murray State University.
The competition will be divided into two divisions: piano and instrumental (non-piano). Finalists will be chosen from each division to perform in the final February competition at Murray State University.
The top performer from each division will receive a $1,000 cash prize, eligibility to be invited to perform as guest soloist with the Paducah Symphony Orchestra, and a Music Scholarship to Murray State University (if eligible).
Applicants must submit a high quality recording of their memorized performance of one movement of a concerto. The recording must be submitted as an MP3 and can be uploaded through the online application or emailed to [email protected] no later than December 13, 2013.
Applicants and their teachers are encouraged to contact and consult with Charles Manchester through the PSO office regarding the repertoire which would be appropriate for this competition. The piece performed on the MP3 must be the same for the finals and the performance with the orchestra, if the applicant is chosen as a winner of his/her division.
If you know of a talented young artist, send them to PaducahSymphony.org for detailed competition rules and application procedures.
