Reception and Book Reading Friday Night‏


Shan Ayers, Professor of Theatre at Berea College and local writer, will be joined October 11, 2013, by several of the playwrights whose work is included in a new collection titled, “Scenes From the Common Wealth: Short Plays and Monologues by Kentucky Women.”

This collection features works by 16 women who have ties to Kentucky. Authors include Arlene Hutton, Naomi Wallace, bell hooks, Trish Ayers, Sallie Bingham, Linda Caldwell, Gail Livesay, Brenda White, Denise McKinney, Nancy Gall-Clayton, Carolyn Bertram-Arnold, Anne Shelby, Constance Alexander, Beth Dotson Brown, Liz Fentress and the late Belinda Mason.

The reading begins immediately after the reception for the exhibit “Kentucky Guild of Artists and Craftsmen” on Friday, October 11. The reception is from 5:30 to 7:30. The reading will start at 7:30. Both events are at the Berea Arts Council at 116 Main Street in Berea.

Books will be available for purchase for $15.00 at the reading.
