An outstanding regional author, David Huddle, will be reading next Friday Sept. 27 at the Loyal Jones Appalachian Center, 205 North Main Street, Berea, Kentucky. The event is the celebration of the Summer issue of APPALACHIAN HERITAGE which featured Professor Huddle. It will begin with a reception at 7:30 followed by his reading at 8:00.
David Huddle is the author of seven poetry collections, most recently, Blacksnake at the Family Reunion, which won the PEN New England Award for Poetry last year. He is the author of three novels, most recently, Nothing Can Make Me Do This, which won the Library of Virginia Award for Fiction in 2011, five story collections, an essay collection and The David Huddle Reader. Remarkably, his works have appeared in over two hundred anthologies, including Best American Short Stories. Professor Emeritus at the University of Vermont, he has served post-retirement positions as Visiting Distinguished Professor of Creative Writing at Hollins University and the Roy Acuff Chair of Excellence in the Creative Arts at Austin Peay State University.
