Fred McCollum

RICHMOND — Fred McCollum, age 66 of Moberly Road in Richmond, passed away Tuesday at the Central Baptist Hospital in Lexington. Fred was born in Jackson County, Ky., to the late Doug Vickers and the late Ruth McCollum Johnson. He was retired from the Ryder Dedicated Logistics Company.

He is survived by: his wife Nancy Faye Gabbard McCollum; three sons Doug (Linda) McCollum, Dusty McCollum and Nick McCollum; one brother Ray McCollum; seven grandchildren Derik, Brett, Justin, Shane, Kevin, Austin and Anna; and four great grandchildren Bryce, Kaiden, Kinley and Gage.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, November 19, 2011, at Lakes Funeral Home in Berea, burial will follow in the Flannery Cemetery in Jackson County. Visitation will be Friday from 6 to 9 p.m. at Lakes Funeral Home in Berea.

Pallbearers will be Ronnie Clark, Charlie Bratcher, Kenny Brewer, Darrel Parrett, Ritchie Roberts, Jerry Wolke, Willie Griffin, Marcus Williams, Sonny Coffey and Josh Mills.

Hosea Farris

Hosea Farris, 59, of Richmond, the husband of Annie Ruth Farris, passed away suddenly after arrival at the Pattie A. Clay Regional Medical Center.

Services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, November 26, 2011 at The Supreme Council of the House of Jacob. Visitation will be from 6 – 8 p.m. Friday at Oldham, Roberts & Powell Funeral Home.

Maggie Allen Short

Maggie Allen Short, 88, widow of Carl Short, passed away Saturday, November 19,2011 at the St. Joseph Hospital – Berea. She was born in Rockcastle County Kentucky, on May 14, 1923, to the late Major and Laura Allen. She was a member of the Irvine View Holiness Church and enjoyed gardening and cooking.

Mrs. Short is survived by her son, Winfred Jasper Short (Katherine); and her daughter, Flossie Hackler, both of Richmond; one sister, Geneva Short; seven grandchildren, Joe Bowlin (Gayle), Mike Bowlin (Velora), Tammy Lyons (James), Sammy Hackler (Robin), Cloyd Short (Tracy), Jackie Short (Lisa) Pam Day (Larry); twelve great-grandchildren, and ten great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two sons, Danny Short, and Vanny Short; one brother, Homer Allen; one sister, Nellie Bannis; and one granddaughter, Teresa Short.

The Funeral Service will be conducted at 3:00 PM Tuesday, Nov. 22, 2011 at the Combs, Parsons & Collins Funeral Home with Bro. Charlie Wilson and Bro. Silas Keene officiating and Larry Day sharing words of peace. Burial will follow in the Madison County Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be after 5:00 PM on Monday, Nov. 21, 2011 at the Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be her Grandsons as well as James Lyons. Honorary Pallbearers will be Benny Biggs, Jackie Lee Short, Scott Biggs, Johnny Short, Daniel Short, and Larry Day
