Two women are dead after a crash this morning around 1 a.m. involving a semi and an SUV. Traffic was backed up for hours while crews cleared the scene on the I-75 northbound lanes just south of the 87 exit in Richmond.
Police say 30-year-old Christina Blevins and 44-year-old Pennifer McIntosh got on I-75 from a ramp at exit 87 going the wrong way–heading south in the north bound lanes. Seconds later, they crashed head on into the semi, killing them both. The truck driver suffered only minor injuries.
Although both women were roommates and lived in Berea, McIntosh is originally from Jackson, and Blevins is from London.
Bowling Funeral Home in London will be handling arrangements for Christina Blevins, and Deaton Funeral Home in Jackson will be handling arrangements for Pennifer McIntosh.
