Everyone is invited to join the Madison County Veterans on May 20th and 21st from 9AM to 7 PM in our “Salute to Our Armed Forces” honoring our Kentucky Heroes.
This free event is held at the new Armed Forces Reserve Center adjacent to Blue Grass Army Depot in Richmond, KY. Planned events include a Veterans Job Fair, ATV Show, Motorcycle Show, Classic Car Show, Military Static displays, as well as other attractions.
Events start Friday with a huge Job Fair and an ATV Show which will last both days. During the welcoming ceremony at 4 PM, The Marine Corp League will present the colors and Nashville recording artist Kristi Miller will sing the National Anthem. The days events will conclude with judging of the Motorcycle Show at 7 PM.
On Saturday, Lieutenant General Robert Yerks (US Army Retired) of Richmond, KY will be the Keynote Speaker. Subsequently, Congressman Ben Chandler is scheduled to re-present the Purple Heart to Mr Lester Trent, a World War II Veteran from Mt Sterling, KY. The celebration will end with the classic car show, then presenting the John Deere Gator to the lucky winner.
Kentucky Musical Entertainment includes Joe Isaacs and Stacy York, New Generation Bluegrass, Richard McHargue Cloggers, Blake Maupin (Michael Jackson Impersonator), Heidi Douglas, Super Fecta, Will “Teen King” Reynolds, Jon Russell, and Nashville recording artist Kristi Miller.
We also will be raffling off a John Deere Gator ATV with $500 and $300 cash 2nd and 3rd prizes.
The Madison County Veterans Committee is made up of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 7098, American Legion Post 12, Marine Corps League Det. 1012, Purple Heart Association, 40 and 8 and Disabled American Veterans. We come together as one unit each year to “Salute Our Armed Forces”.
